On 12/13/2011, I opened a Bancomer Loreto Mexico branch account with $8, 500.00 USD. The branch assistant Mgr. a Orlando Rivas who is the only person at that bank that spoke any english opened this account for me as a "preferred customer" which offered me banking without any bank fee's along with some other perks. I opened a USD and a Peso account.

On 5/23/2012 I left for Las Vegas Nevada for an extended stay and left around $500 US between the USD and the Peso
account in my bank account. Orlando Rivas said this amount would keep the accounts open without any fee's being charged.

My 2012 Toyota FJ was registered in Mexico and had to be renewed for 2013 so I attempted to go online and see about moving the Mexico money around to accomplish payment for the Toyota registration (making an additional deposit if necessary) I however could not access my account on line. On and off over the next few weeks I attempted to call the Bank but was never able to get anyone on the line that spoke english. After several weeks I finally contacted :

BBVA Bancomer
EDGAR HERNANDEZ
Preferred Customers' Unit

This person spoke good english and informed me that the reason I could not get into my account online was because the balance was "negative" . Upon further exploration he told me that my $$$ had been taken for bank fee's in error and proceeded to try and contact Mr. Rivas to get the fee's reversed. Over the next several days he connected Mr. Rivas, and I on a conference call. Mr. Orlando Rivas said he would correct the problem "WHEN HE HAD THE TIME". I patiently waited weeks without any results and then contacted The Preferred Customer Unit again.

Below is a copy of the email I received in response to my email informing him that still nothing has been done.

Hello,
I offer you and apology for not answering yesterday, due to problems of internet conection I could not do anything.

In fact I am verifying this with my leaders.

You are going to recieve an answer in a moment.

I continue to your service.

BBVA Bancomer
EDGAR HERNANDEZ
Preferred Customers' Unit

Needless to say I have not heard a word and the answer I was to receive in a "MOMENT" has never came. The bank has just decided to rip off my funds without even an explanation.

It isn't the amount of money, it is the principle that a Bank takes a client's money and refuses to even offer an explanation or even communicate.

Do yourself a favor and learn some Spanish before banking in Mexico.
