Al put a rebuilt engine in my 95 toyota 4-runner. He took forever and it was never ready when he said it woudl be. After I got it back, I had to return to him several times to have leaks and problems repaired after it was put in, Less than a year later, the water pump blew. I took it to a different mechanic who commented on a massive oil leak and poor quality in the installation of my engine. I tried to talk to Al about this, because the engine was still under warrenty. He was belligerant and antagonistic towards me. I was intimidated and just put it off. Now, another year later and this engine has blown its head gasket. I am out around $5000.00 and endless hours of trouble.

I had very similar issues with Alton's Performance. He had my car for over four months to rebuild the engine. After I got it back it never ran right. I took it back to him at least 5 different times to have him fix problems. He told me there was nothing he could do for me after the rebuilt engine lost a piston within a month of having the car back (the same reason I brought it to him in the first place). Basically he didn't ever honor his warranty, and blew me off. I turned him over to the BAR, Bureau of Automotive Repair, who helped me recoup some of my money. I went to another rebuilder and had my engine completely gone through again, this time the right way. It's been running great ever since. Steer clear of Altons unless you like shoddy workmanship that takes months to finish and will never run right if it runs at all.
