I have only ever attempted two returns to Coles. A few months back I could not find dine cat food anywhere, bought two similar boxes. Cats hated it. Tried to return one to exchange and was refused.

This week I purchased Coles stir fry beef, upon opening it had a bad buttery smell. I called customer service, they provided me a reference number and logged it in the system so my return should be successful this time. (Granted I had no receipt but it was a Coles brand product) customer care explained the 'coles policy'.

When I arrived at the store I was greeted with the standard "yeeeh what canna get ya mate" (this is the registers manager btw - classy)

I advised her of my situation and provided a note that had the reference number on it. After several questions it was returned onto a gift card. Yay success.

But then, in my opinion, a very patronizing tone was used to tell me "maybe next time we'll hold on to our receipt huh?"

I picked up the card turning to leave and said "mam, that's not what customer care or your policy says"

After taking a few steps away from the counter this opinionated loud mouth wasn't done, calling over the next customer inline "well you gotta stop scamming the policy"

I BEG YOUR DAMN PARDON!

I was furious at this demonstrably false accusation and was infuriated it was aired so publicly!

I went into the store this time to approach the assistant manager who by the time I had made it around to the other side of service counter was standing next to the loud mouth. The aggressive loud mouth was literally waving my note above head height laughing and carrying on. This clear display was arrogance personified. I briefly told the assistant manager how utterly disgusted I was with that 'service'. The transaction was over her parting fighting words were not needed.

Reached out to customer care. No reply. No response.

Would it be acceptable for a member of the public to stand ten foot away from the tobacco counter and every time this evil little troll does a sale, yell out "STOP STEALING FROM THE REGISTERS".

Desired outcome: Fired. No ifs, buts or maybes.
