CityGrid Media, LLC review: Unlawful charge on credit card after service cancellation 27

E
Author of the review
11:28 am EST

The company unlawfully charged my credit card after I had called them and

got their services canceled on Jan 4, 2011. They charged my credit card

for $319.95 on Feb 1, 2011 for services rendered in January which I never

asked for. Also their customer service number is not always accessible.

Some times I get a message that their customer service number

[protected]) does not exist.

Their salesperson told me that if I try their service for a month, they will give me $200 credit for the first month. He said the charge is only $1 per user that they referred to me through their ad campaign. It turned out, I did not get a single referral call from them. So I cancelled it. But they place $200 in collection. What a bunch of crooks. Is their a class action suit? We need to take these scammers to court.

Signed up with JB, told him I was worried in the beginning about signing up for such a thing. He was very reassuring and I fell for it. I signed up. No service, no new business. I told him to cancel my account. He asked that I go one more month free and get a refund of 198.00. I agreed. No service, no new business. I cancelled again. He said I would get a check for the 198.00. It never came. The next month I got a three dollar charge to my account. I sent JB an email and told him they were no longer authorized to charge my account. I just got another charge on my account today for 100.00. They never cancelled my account! This company is a total rip off and if there is a class action suit against them, count me in.

I too have had the same experiences as voiced above. I hired a lawyer and she got the same go-around with them. I can not believe that this company is still allowed to function. What does that say about our protection agencies, mainly the California Protection Agency. I was overwhelmed with the number of complaints when I started to research this. All of our stories are unique but yet exactly the same. This is a fraudulent company that hosts off of the small business person who, in many cases will just pay and chalk it up to experience. Please do not do that. Write to everyone you think of . I am, even to 20/20. Someone at sometime will give this the attention it deserves. Unfortunately, many will suffer until then, both emotionally and financially. SPEAK UP PEOPLE for YOU HAVE A VOICE!

I am chiming in concert with most other posts on this site...CityGrid (aka CitySearch) is absolutely dishonest and deceptive in its business practices. I strongly discourage businesses, especially new start-ups, from engaging in business with this despicable company. As a new business owner, I was drawn-in by CityGrid's very convincing pitch to provide a higher level of online visibility for my business at a reasonable rate. Well, CityGrid's pitch was misleading and in some instances what it promised was a straight-out lie. A CityGrid account manager told me that after paying $500 for my initial campaign, I could lower my monthly expenditure for follow-on campaigns to whatever amount I chose. I attempted to do just that after four months of no visible advantage by using CityGrid. At that time, the same account manager told me, that I could not place my monthly expenditure below $299. To add insult to injury, over the past six months since I've started using CityGrid, there was only one customer that stated he was patronizing my business because he say it on CitySearch (we query all new customers on how they heard about us). I find this to be, not only odd, but extremely disturbing considering CityGrid's claim that I was receiving well over 500 clicks a month and exhausting my $500 budget. Everyone should read the "exemployee" post on this site, it is absolutely accurate. I would monitor my account and see very little activity for most of the month, then it would spike near the end of the month. In closing, I will sum up my experience with CityGrid by stating an old, but very fitting, adage “BUYER BEWARE!” For the amount of money wasted on doing business with this SCAM (you could interchange the "A" with "U" and be just as accurate) company, you would be better served by launching an advertising campaign with a reputable/popular local radio station; which is exactly what I am going to do.

I wish I had come here to read all this bad news about this company. they had this girl name Malee Pakluck, calls me non stop telling me how their clients are love their business, I still don't accept her deal until she said that I don't have to put any money down and if I don't like it I can cancel any time, so what I got to give I took it whithin a week NO calls coming from thier ads, I called to cancel she said no give it another week to circle, and soon that week end I call them, after so many yelling they sent me cancellation email, and today after almost month and half I receive an email say they have been try to charge my card. well I was using my head all this too good to be true I give her a gift card to start with and if their service was good I would continue to add money to it, they are scaming peolpe, because she said if I didn't want I can cancell just to have me sign in. everybody stay away from them. ONCE you here it's citygrid hang upthe phone

Same story here !
I was also scammed by them after speaking to a very fast talker, that they only needed my credit card to open an acct 3 days later when they called me to go over the details of the listing they had me sign in I noticed that it was showing 70 + hits and a balance of over $200 when I asked the scam artist to explain it ! She told me We would get back to it.
When I continued to question her that over that 3 day window I was closed 2 of them and the 3rd day was a Monday holiday. She said it was some kind of mistake and another person from the company would review and be back in touch with me at a later date I then demanded to get clarification that same day the first fast talking scam artist called me... back pedaling I at that point i did a goggle search for that company and was shocked to see the thousands of complaints against them. I very nicely said thank you for your time I do not wish to continue and he said that was fine he understood.
They charged me $519.00 claiming I got all these hits from them my website tracks where my hits come from and for the whole month show 1 hit that was most likely me.
They claim I received hundreds of hits. I did not get one order from this. they must not know the meaning of the word "viable" After contacting my credit card company it went to be disputed Amex gave them 3 months to respond and they never did so Amex gave me back my money. Now they call me. From collections ! I have never once received a piece of mail from them nothing. IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINT THIS COMPANY count me in ! Very sad to rip off small business owners just trying to survive. If the economy hasn't crippled us enough now we get kicked in the teeth by these S.O.B's

I tried to correct my listing on Citygrid and was told I had to start a campaign to correct the listing. Citygrid never said anything about a 30 day term. NEVER communicated clearly about what the realistic charges might be. I had no idea - and no expectation that the charges would actually reach $300 considering what should be a targeted campaign. They did say I could monitor the campaign charges and make changes as needed. I have been charged hundreds of dollars for no new customers. So far - even if I get a new patient, I have paid more for their service than I could ever get paid from the new patient. Financially, this is a losing proposition for me.

What I really wanted to do from the beginning was correct the information on citygrid's website that said I was a chiropractor - when I am not a chiropractor. I requested they discontinue my campaign as the terms were misrepresented. I will dispute any charges made to my credit card. I am extremely frustrated to be taken advantage of in this way. I was expecting honest, fair communication and did not receive that. I feel I have been ripped off.

I am having the same problem with City Grid Media. Was not told I would be billed $600.00. Very small business with very limited funds, but fortunately they couldn't get much because I didnt have much. I've cancelled my credit card. Lesson learned. I will be more cautious next time. I am an honest business person, and I hate it when someone tries to rip me off.

Any body that will go to court you can count me in. This place is rediculous. Please dont use them. Was told the first month was free so i said ok. Billed $881 for that free month and contacting anybody, you might as well forget about it. CON ARTISTS. now im disputing my credit card balance. Anybody that says they are a good product works for them. They told me to get on the account and create fake names to do good reviews for my own business. Yeah right, no way I would do such. That should have been the first red flag. Alan Short-Oostanaula River Guide Service-

I AM STARTING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CITY GRID PLEASE JOIN ME . I was told by the sales rep that I would only be charged for the people I connect with and that I could even listen to the recorded calls. He said if you don't get customers and make money than I don' t make money so I have to work hard. Sounded great. He also said that I don't have to sign any contract.
I just found out that when I pushed the accept button I accepted their whole agreement.
I've been with them 3 days and I want to cancel but their agreement says that I can't cancel until I have been with them a month.
So they can just click click click on my account and rack up[ $1, 000 which was my limit.
Lets all get together and file a class action lawsuit against this company. We need to stop them now. I am just starting my business and don't have much money. I told Shawn the sales guy that. He took advantage of me and everyone else who is viewing this review. CLASS ACTION CLASS ACTION CLASS ACTION CLASS ACTION CLASS ACTION CLASS ACTION

The same thing is happening to me right now. I was promised several times that it was just a trial and I would not be charged. I was promised this by Sareth Tricano several times to get me to sign up. In the recording about charges, I even made a point to say UNLESS I CANCEL. I then am getting the run around from her supervisor HEATHER HERBERT since Sareth is on maternity leave. Just don't sign up no matter what they make you believe about being able to cancel and no matter how nice they sound. They are professional salespeople and know how to trick you. Disgusting.

I do search marketing for my own business and some friends businesses also. I set up a campaign foe the key word piano lessons which had a small number of searches per month, but the changed the campaign to music lessons which gets a lot of searches. I lost about seven hundred dollars and got nothing for it. I called to cancel and they still charged me again. They said I never called. They claimed they record every call and called me a liar. I had to cancel my credit card to stop the mess. They then went after my client and scared them into paying again. These people are the biggest liars and scammers in the business. Their employees are the ### to with super bad attitudes. Their advertising is worthless scams.

CityGrid Media is a scam like everyone else says. One thing that they don't mention is that "connections" are really just clicks to your CityGrid page. I had 500+ "connections" and 0 viewed my actual website. I have cancelled service today so we will see if it actually gets cancelled. Also, stay away from YP.com/AT&T advertising solutions, they are basically the same type of scam.

Don't ever trust CityGrid Media! I have had a bad experience with them too. Unfortunately I read reviews about them after I signed up with them. The first day my ad suppose to show up on CitySearch.com, I already had disappointed with them. Early in the morning I logged in into my admin panel they provided I had 0 paid connections, 20 minutes later I checked again and I was surprised! I had 8 paid connections! I started to look for my ad on CitySearch.com for my category which I was posted my business in my area and I didn't find my self in there. I started search myself under my business name and NO LUCK. I searched and searched and no results. I contacted CityGrid Media right away(at that point I already read horrible stories people went through with them and I found my self in the same situation) through email and I asked them how come I can't find my self on your site and you already charge me for 8 connection (which is $1.40 per connection) without people even see my ad. And he replied "I have done some searches for you and found the same to be the case. It looks like something is wrong here. I am submitting this as a case to our site support team to check things out. I will also submit for a credit for those 8 connections." So here I am. I'm paying for my ad so people would find it and come to me and I will have my business grow but instead I have paying to CityGrid Media and they charge me for nothing. What if there is 100 paid connections and it is "THE SAME CASE SCENARIO?". Stay away from this company and invest your dollars in something like Google or Yahoo, Bing.

We've been charged twice, two months at $150 each, after canceling our account. Numerous correspondence with "senior accounts manager" have resulted in nothing more than responses such as "I'll look into this shortly and get back to you.". Looks as though I'll end up wasting more time in an attempt to get them to reverse the charges.

I canceled with this company no sooner then I signed up they tried telling me that I had 162 hits on my site yet no customer who calls for service mentions them, I have call tracking, thank God not through them and I offered to fax them a copy of my call records along with agreed recorded conversations, where I was told in the beginning of last month they needed my card info but I had a month free to try it out and that my card wouldn't be charged anything with out my authorization, guess the red flag should have went up when they changed their name from city search to city grid, usually an indication that they have been sued before for fraud. Anyway before the month was even up I emailed them I wanted to cancel, no response, so I called I was told my card would be charged nothing and my services would be stopped. Well they tried charge my card 319.00 a few days ago. It's a prepaid card so they attempted to take the money out three times before they were blocked out from card services who alerted me on this, so glad I was a bit skeptical, it's a real shame though the way these cons who think they are so big time and untouchable, the attorney general tends to think otherwise, I filled my complaint and have my lawyer working on a letter head to these snakes, I suggest you all do the same I am sorry for your losses. If you need more help or info on these cons feel free to email me at msblanco101@gmail.com

I got a call one day from one of the sales people from there. I must have told him about twenty times that I got injured at work and was living on Workman's comp with three little boys. I can not afford anything at this time! He kept on saying that I had to advertise my new store, so then he said he would work up a ad to see what it would cost. He said he had to make up a file so he needed my card number but it won't be charged! Next thing I know my account is overdrawn because of a $419.95 charge from them. Thanks for taking food out of my baby's mouth!

I have had the exact same situation happen to my business. My charges were more than twice what you experienced. I have had to fight them through my credit card company as they will not do anything to remedy the situation themselves. I have tried to cancel by talking to their customer service, but it has been nothing buy a nightmare.

They are the most unprofessional and fruadulent company I've ever worked with. They sell you a contract, but they never cancel it, you have to cancel it yourself. If you don't cancel the contract continues to bill. Their product is terrible- I couldn't wait to get out of the whole mess.
