Sharelle Petty - AKA Sharelle Overton rents her personal apartment, and leads one to believe that it is a rental not a place she actually lives. It is a nasty apartment located in a decrepit building…. Which is not as described. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU NEED EARPLUGS AND SLEEPING PILLS TO SLEEP IN THIS APARTMENT. THIS IS HOW THE OWNER HERSELF DEALS WITH LIVING THERE.
It is listed as a 2-bedroom apartment that sleeps 7. She charges an extraordinary amount (250 a night on the off season), which leaves you to believe it is as described, a TWO-bedroom apartment. BEWARE. This is a studio apartment with two mattresses that are located behind two doors... that cannot be closed due to the fact that you cannot control the heat. (And in the summer the air conditioner is in the sitting area...so you wouldn't be able to close the door then, either. There is a crappy futon in the sitting area, and she describes the "living room" with chairs that cannot be seen in the pictures she posts. (The "chairs" are two hard plastic chairs... no place to sit and relax and plan your next day... She leaves you to believe that the apartment is bigger than it is. It is probably about 400 square feet... and it is not a 2 bedroom. VERY DECIEVING! She is not an honest person. She cannot be trusted to do the right thing.
We paid for 4 nights, but the first night it was 85 degrees in the apartment, WITH the windows opened, AND the window AC running. The NOISE OUTSIDE the apartment coming from the downstairs bar was unbearable. It went on until 5 in the morning. Even with the windows closed, it was as if there was a party in the living room. Yelling and screaming ALL NIGHT. There were 3 of us... we are in our 50's and did not get one bit of sleep. We left first thing in the morning, after being in touch via text all night. Be aware that once she gets the money from people she informs you that she will not answer her phone.. At one point she texted that us she was putting in earplugs and taking a sleeping pill…which made us realize that she should advertise that sleeping pills and earplugs are needed to rent ON YOUR VACATION…We asked her to work with us to give us a partial refund. She lead us on all weekend, pretending she was trying to work things out, but in the end she refused There are many complaints about her on the Internet... through Craigslist, as well as many other complaint sites. Please do not give this woman your money. She ripped us off of 950.00!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Eastvillagejewel01- aka Sharelle/Marc you are full of it. You are currently scamming us and are squatting in an apartment that you subletted from us for 3 months and refuse to move out and refuse to pay.Because of so called squatters rights, you haven't left yet and we are responsbile to continue to pay for the apartment while you "live" in it and sublet it on a nightly basis for $350+ dollars. I do not trust a word you say. These pictures I am posting are of OUR apartment in stuyvesant town. That is MY couch on the wall and was never intended to accomodate a hotel business.
Her credit card company (after an investigation) refused her chargeback. Maybe they are starting to wise up to people who use chargebacks like this.

I think if I were renting a studio as a 2 bedroom, someone else might have noticed by now...and why did she pay rent once she got there and finished a complete tour of the place? No, she would not have done that if it were not exactly what she had rented.
And there is only one other complaint that I have ever found online about ME (not a company I once worked for, which I have no control over obviously)...I was slow to return a deposit because I was out of the country, my fault, but handled. The client verified it was done, so this is a non-issue.
***Note: I do not actually live in the apartment. (I hope I own more personal items than that.) It is a clean, clutter free vacation rental. I stay there at times when it is empty because I love the location. It is a full time rental, as advertised...and has been for many years.
You can either look at the pictures or come see the place to see some of the lies she is telling. It is obviously a full 2 bedroom, with a full closet and window in each bedroom. The is not something you can lie about, it is too easy to verify.
The booking agents who normally do my rentals could not rent a studio as a 2 bedroom. (Nor could I.) Come on, at least keep it believable. The building is renovated and professionally managed, easily verified with the address by anyone who really wants the truth.
She rented an apartment in a busy area of Mannhattan, she is used to Florida, maybe she should have rented in Long Island. She got mad and went off on me...even threatening me, that's about it.
Regardless, she got her full deposit (and then some) back. Nobody ripped her off. She complained about not liking artificial heat so I shut it off, I knew I had a live one from the moment I met her. I just hope she did not ruin the rip for everyone, she never stopped complaining. I should have just shut my phone off at 4am, insteading of telling her I took a pill and was going to sleep...trying to be nice.
I am so glad that most people are so good to deal with, or I would have stopped doing this long ago. :)
