Cabin Kit Homes review: Missing materials and no accountability 1

I purchased a cabin kit from this company and experience several problems with the materials that were provided. These include: 1) The engineered building plans called for 5/8"inch roof sheathing, and the company sent 1/2" sheathing. 2) The steel roofing sent to cover the 6' porch was 78", which did not fit. 87" was needed. The roofing company from which Cabin Kit Company purchased the materials (Vic West of Canada) confirmed by phone that 78" would not fit a 6' deck unless the roof were nearly completely flat. 3) The drip edge that was sent is for a 12 pitch roof, whereas 4 and 10 pitch were needed. 4) The mounting screws provided by the manufacturer were not the correct length. 5) The shipment was missing deck joists. The cost of replacing the missing joists was nearly twice what the company sent in reimbursement. 6) The corner, window and door trim arrived unpainted. 7) The company offered to replace a missing window, then shipped the window to an address over an hour away rather than my contractor's address, where the owner (George Wardner) agreed to ship it.

I tried repeatedly to resolve these problems with George Wardner without success. He claimed that my contractors were inexperienced roofers and that the problems I described to him (e.g., with the drip edge, unpainted door trim, mounting screws, etc) had no basis in reality. All of these issues were documented with photographs and (in the case of the incorrect sized sheathing) referenced in the building plans. The cost of replacing incorrect or missing materials, and hiring someone to paint all the trim, cost us well over $2000. The biggest cost came to my mental health, however, as George Wardner repeatedly accused us of lying (as if we had photoshopped the photos or something).

Finally, I should note that when we bid out our project to three contractors and showed them the list of materials and the amount we had paid, all said they could have built us a better quality house for less money. Every winter we have ice and water dripping down the INSIDE of our windows because they are so cheap. Our heating costs run us thousands of dollars. Avoid this company or anything associated with Mr. Wardner.
