Safeway

My experience at the Safeway in Shawville, Calgary has been mediocre at best. I usually go there as it's more convenient coming back from work. A few weeks ago things took a turn for the worst when I had a few items to return, because the lids on the milk jugs were partially off the plastic safety tabs. I didn't realize that until I got home.

The jerk at the customer service center (Michael ) demanded that I give them my private information and show my drivers license, even though a receipt was presented ( a receipt showing that I had spent over $129 there ). He claimed that the government required my private information for their audits over $5.00. What a crock, as it was nothing more than just another information grab for their telemarketers.

Anyone out there comfortable giving away their private information to some kid behind the desk? Any one wonder why there is such a huge spike in identity theft?

When I asserted my privacy rights, he accused me of FRAUD! I left the items on the counter and walked out of the store, angry and disgusted that they would stoop so low as to call me a FRAUD for making a legitimate return?

So long safeway, you just lost a long time customer who spent thousands a year at your store.
