We purchased a female, British Shorthair kitten from this cattery in the fall of 2014. The kitten was expensive -- about $1400 - as we were buying a pedigreed British Shorthair kitten. The breeder advised, and the contract stated, that we would receive the pedigree papers upon sending the breeder confirmation that the cat was neutered/spade. This was done on January 23, 2015 and papers were sent to the cattery on such date. As of today, April 13, 2015, we have not received any papers. The breeder, Julia Yureva, has advised that she is busy with her other business and that is the cause for the delays and, later, that she had misfiled the paper request and they were sent back. Then, she said she had a death in her family. Honestly, I wonder what excuse will be next. She also suggested that we return the cat and get a refund -- wow, what an opportunist! As if a cat lover willing to spend $1400 on a cat would return a cat they have had for months now. At this point, I am wondering if the cat is truly a pure breed British Shorthair and I highly doubt anything that this breeder says or writes. As a contrast, we had another British Shorthair kitten from a different breeder (registered with CFA) in July of 2014 (this was Ouachita British Shorthair) and we received the pedigree papers and CFA registration WITH THE CAT.

Despite what this breeder says, I - this is Anna - NEVER received the paperwork. Further, I still have three cat purchased from Brigattos and though I love her, she is NOT a purebred (her hind legs are like a kangaroo’s). We call her our Canal Street British shorthair.

I stumbled upon this pledge because A friend and I were looking for certified breeders in her state and found this cattery. However, we made multiple attempts by email and text to contact and ask about future litters and received no responses at all. I see from all the comments that the breeder has another business but it takes barely a moment to answer a business inquiry.

One side of my family operates a small CFA cattery for a different breed so the purebred business is not foreign to me. My aunt has the same type of contract : show proof of spay and neuter for papers and it's done by clockwork. To give your all an idea, often paperwork is submitted and approved within 3-7 business days. Papers sometimes get delayed due to CFA show scheduling but rarely more than 14 days. Due to COVID, the a majority of personnel are no longer traveling and lately, papers are approved within a day or two.

I stumbled upon this page and I'm concerned about the delays in paperwork if my friend were to get a kitten. Based on the comments, I will advise her against getting a kitten from this breeder. I'm sorry you all had to go through the anxiety of not receiving vital paperwork.

Wow, I came upon this by accident but I too
purchased a brittish blue from brigattos in 2004. We too submitted our vet papers for the pedigree papers. We never received them. I emailed Julia and she never even responded. Like the commenter above stated, our cat looks and acts 100% like a brittish blue. I don't doubt the authenticity. I let the issue go as I didn't have the fight in me. It didn't matter anyways, we were in love with our cat from the minute I took him home and he has become like the family mascot. I do believe she breeds amazing cats. I just wish she would honor her word and find it interesting that we must be one of many in this situation.

Anna contacted me about the paperwork. The paperwork was delayed bc of family issues and I offered to pay $50 dollars for the delay which she accepted. All paperwork are provided to the clients.

This is Anna and this breeder never provided the papers. Further, the car I purchased is definitely not a purebreed.

I can't believe I came upon this site by accident & saw this post & doing a double take at seeing Brigattos Cattery as a head liner! This exact issue happened to us. We purchased our British blue shorthair male kitten at the price of 1400.00, a tidy sum for us but something I saved for & waited years to be able to have since I have been in love with this breed I was a much younger woman & they were near impossible to find in the USA. Our kitten was born in January of 2013 & we brought him home in April of 2013 & found Julia to be very informative & friendly through the whole process. Our contract stipulated the same as yours, after neutering we needed to send the proof via our vet & she would then send his registration paperwork. Well, he was neutered at 7 months in August 2013 & sent proof from our vet immediately. Weeks turned into a few months & no paperwork so I emailed her & texted & she said she had gotten behind on that litter but would get it done & out ASAP! More months went by & our cat turned 1 year old so I contacted her again & she apologized again &I said she would pay the registration cost for us & get everything out to us ASAP! Well, our big guy was 2 in January 2015 & I gave up the fight. Because of the contract between us we could try to enforce the issue but don't think it's worth my time now. I do know this, our cat is all he should be in looks & personality of this breed so I have no worry that he is not a pure bred British. We love & adore him &I he is an exemplary British boy. You recently purchased your girl which leads me to believe that others have had this same issue & I'm surprised Julia has gotten away with this. I hate saying I finally don't feel like I'm the only one because we paid for & honored our contracts & we should have the papers that show our cats heritage/lineage. Thank you for sharing your complaint. I think it was karma that I saw it.
