Drove from Connecticut to Maine to purchase a kitten from Susan Bizier. The cattery smelled and the cats were all in crates and did not seem to be living in the same area as the people. They had a separate building for the cats who did not seem very happy. It was very sad and I went back home without a kitten. Will keep looking for an ethical breeding program. I reported her to the CFA and they scheduled an inspection. Susan emailed me after the inspection. She cleaned the place up and passed. She wanted to throw it in my face. All I want is to get a kitten from a responsible, loving breeder.
I also just realized this complaint was posted by Maureen...this is the Mom, who had not even been to my home...all the cats were NOT in cages, and I had explained that they rotate in our house also. Katy could see several cats on the cat towers and at her feet, so I just don't understand saying they all were in cages. I know we can't please everyone, not all agree that a breeding program needs structure, and I understand that, but I have worked long and hard to have beautiful healthy kittens to share with people, and stand behind my kittens. I also stand behind my program. I am very proud of my cattery.
If you understood that cats cant just all live in one area, a program without ways to separate cats means cats are bred back to back and if you have more then one male, you cant know who breeds who. All my cats are in cages that need to be. The buliding is HALF of a garage we built FOR the cats. There ROOM is 12 x 30, has heat, A/C, 5 windows, 2 windowed doors, linolieum floors for disinfecting, painted, curtains, several cat towers, and it was about 15, 000 just to put up the shell. The other half has a 12 x 9 room with a door to go to, for grooming. I have been state inspected and NOW CFA inspected, and if you could only understand males spray...even females spray, You cannot allow cats to just run, piss n breed when n where they want. All my kittens are raised inside my home, born in bedroom, and raised in a safe pen in dinigroom, until age appropriate to start exploring. I have been doing this for 31 years. All my cats get time in our home in turns, and our males get turns running free in the cattery. the cages are twice the required size! I spend lots of time with my cats. YOU and your mother each wrote a letter to CFA, and your MOTHER never even came to MAine to my home! How could she place a complaint? BTW the first 2 complaints in 31 years to CFA? You played with the 3 kittens for 40 min on my didningroom floor and stated how beautiful n healthy they looked? If you had bought a sick, unhealthy kitten, then you could have had a complaint. I ALSO REFUNDED you immediatly even though it was a NON REFUNDABLE deposit. I have many many reviews on my Facebook page, I can give 2 vet referrals that I use, and if any of my cats need medical care, I have the bills to prove they get it. Emergency Ccsections...that cost thousands! I do this for the love of the breed and to share the breed with others. Sorry we could not help you, and I do hope you find what your looking for.
