I purchased a Bosch refrigerator among other appliances at Bill Smith in Fort Mayers in 2020. Last November my refrigerator ( I purchased an extended warranty, with a promise that if they could not fix the product they would replace it) started shutting down for a few minutes at time and then turning back on. I contacted Bill Smith and since then they’ve...

Bill Smith Appliances Sold us a 2 year warranty that was really one extra year

We purchased a Sony Wega 50" tv from Bill Smith in Ft. Myers Florida in June '07. The price was approximately $2000 including the 2 year extended warranty. Sony offers a 1 year mfg.'s warranty. (the 2 year extended would be a good investment to add on.)We thought and were led to beleive we had a 3 year warranty. Now 2 years 4 months later our picture is green. We called Bill Smith service to see what could be done and they said our warranty was up and we needed to purchase a $265.00 bulb. We did and the picture looked great for about 1 week and then it turned even more green and almost unwatchable. This time we researched this model online a found there was a class action suit pending and approx. 1500 consumers, in the past few months, have had their monies refunded to them from Sony. We called Sony and because our model has a silver frame instead of a black frame, it wasn't included. even though the actual tv components are exactly the same. We then remembered our 2 year EXTENDED warranty from Bill Smith. They tell us: "The 1st years warranty with sony and Bill smith run at the same time. So I questioned my salesman, Shane, and he couldn't tell me any real conclusive difference. So i REALLY only had a one year extended warranty. He did not agree with that, but couldn't provide any better reason. So he said I was challenging his integrity. I think he took it so personal because he hears the same complaint from time to time. So DO NOT shop at Bill Smith in Ft. Myers Florida. They have NO INTEGRITY and they MISLEAD there loyal customers.(I had purchased a washer and dryer from them in the past and if i remember correctly, we had a foul smell coming from the washer and went to the store and ask the sales staff if this has been a problem with front loading washers and several of them swore that they heard of such a thing... 1 week late, my sales guy Shane calls me and says they received some chemical cleaning packs to put in the front loaders so they won't stink. My question is: How come they never heard of something and then all of the sudden there is a fix it I COULD BUY?) I think you see what I'm saying. Never a straight answer at Bill Smith in Ft. Myers Florida. Dont trust their word. They know not what they speak. My $2000 tv is worthless and so was my 2 year extended warranty.

I had the same problem with my KDFE50A10 purchased from Bill Smith and even though I was out of warranty they went to Sony on my behalf. 4 1/2 years later I was offerred a Free 40 inch Sony TV or I could upgrade to a larger, better featured model. I chose the upgraded model. I ended up buying a 52 inch that was selling for $2699.99 for $800.00. This concession was made by Sony however it was Bill Smith who took it upon themselves to represent me with the manufacture. I did have to pay for the new delivery however I would expect to, it is a service I requested. I could have picked it up myself however I wanted it to be delivered and setup. They also removed my old set for free! Sometimes the issue is the unreasonable expectations of individuals that give reputable companies an unfair shake. I for one am forever greatful as Bill Smith exceeded my expectation.

If you'd have called Sony, they would have replaced the optic block for free. We had the same problem with our 55" WEGA. There has been a class action suit over the green scree of death. They replaced our optic block once and, when it started going again, they offered us a 60 inch LCD Bravia for $300 or a 46 inch Bravia for free. We had the WEGA for 5 years. Sony will offer you a new TV. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself with the manufacturer, even if the unit is out of warranty. That is not Bill Smith's fault.
