What you need to do is as follows: 1) If you do not owe them anything, you need to send them a "cease and desist" letter telling them not to call you anymore at work or at home. If they continue to do so, they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act (you can find this information at: www.ftc.gov), and you can sue them in court. You can also file a complaint online with the FTC. If you do owe the debt; however, you can still send them a cease & desist letter; however, they can still send you letters. This does not excuse the debt. In this case what you should do before agreeing to any payments, within the body of that same letter, request that they verify the debt. If you owe a debt it is perfectly legal and you have no case unless they are violating the fair debt collections act. Google it and educate yourself so you know your rights and what is legal and what is not.
