Artkive is an online site that provides you with digital files and books for your children artwork.

After purchasing the shipment box (37 dollars) they tell you to ship all your keepsakes you wish to have archived. They do not disclose exact pricing information until after they receive your keepsakes. They then charge you a second amount to have your items “scanned”. After this they charge you AGAIN for a book should you choose to purchase. If you decline to have a book purchase and wish to have your items shipped back to you. Please remember you paid 37 dollars to ship it to them. They charge you an astronomical amount to return. Like a dollars per paper! It’s absurd! Also you can not call them you have to make an appointment to have a representative get in touch with you.

They also remove all honest reviews on their instagram website. Buyers beware. This is not a company who has your best interest and will hold your loved ones art pieces hostage if you refuse their astronomical prices!

I sent my child’s artwork and as advertised “just send it all, we will take it from there, it’s easy, etc”, included as much as art as we thought desirable. At that time, we also specifically did not mark any products (book, mosaics) on the single sheet, very fun and “clear” order form, instead wrote down “will decide later”. Obviously, for this fun and optional service, one would expect to be given an estimate, but I was instead deceived and cornered into nearly $600 bill nearly 3 months later. There were no interim updates, even when I looked on the website for order status. When I tried to connect and solve it, they very firmly replied that there are no options other than paying the full price as the work was already done, and otherwise they would send me to the collection agency. Despite multiple attempts to solve the issue by directly texting with the customer service (very hard to reach, slow to respond and unable to even escalate to the supervisor), they offered to provide about 100$ off and just send the artwork on USB. Again, I asked multiple times, explained my concerns as a customer, but felt completely unheard, uncared and bullied into paying for the service that again should have been optional, cost for this service should have been very transparent (their excuse was that they can’t count all the art, however at over 1$ a piece of artwork, they could simply say, it will cost over 400$, before their photographer completed the work). It also appears this is a recurring issue based on BBB reviews.

I request that the company provides full refund, absolutely return all of our child’s artwork (which apparently was an issue with other customers as they held it hostage) and change the policy to make their cost and process involved very clear (not in some fine print on their website, especially if they demand to pay the fees for their service and give threats later). I am very grateful and respect the work by the photographer, but this is the company and their policy issues, and absolutely and clearly no way that customer should be treated for this supposedly enjoyable and optional, what should have been a special experience.
