Dear Mr. McCandless, Ms. Brothers, and Ms. Grane

I am extremely concerned about the situation of twelve year old Ashlie O'Brien. who was beaten and bloodied yesterday in plain view at the family court by the Court guards, and then placed in handcuffs when she tried to talk to Karen Grane, her GAL. She said that she wanted to testify in her case and explain that she did not want be adopted and that she wanted to go back to her Grandmother who has raised her for most of her life.

There is no excuse for this kind of police brutality, especially not against a minor child. Imagine how upsetting life has been for Ashlie already with her future custody status being in question. She has a right to make her wishes known to the guardian ad litem who supposedly is hired to represent her interests. Especially now that Ashlie is on the verge of adolescence, a difficult transitiry time for any young person, she most needs and desires to be in the cusotdy of those who have known and loved her since early childhood, and not of a complete stranger

I ask that the County immediately take her to be examined by a hospital for a thorough examination to accurately assess her injuries.

I also ask that each of you provide to her grandmother any medical reports already done and/or that have been done, and a copy of all documents reporting the incident.

Sincerely,

Nancy Hey

Really? Family Court is a branch of government, and I thought Complaints Board accepted complaints about government agencies as well as private industires.

But thank you for your post on the "KIMBERLY GLASNAPP, La Mirada, California Complaints & Reviews - ANIMAL CRUELTY, PATHOLOGICAL LIAR, CHIP IN THIEF" post, because now i know not to take your posts seriously, because you don't care about any issue that doesn't affect you personally.

Icu2 and Olisbos, please stop posting comments on my posts, because you are just cyber-bullies.

Thanks, impudentone, I can ignore the comments, but is there a place where I can report cyber-bullying? Because the above comments were obviously submitted to try to intimadate me.

I have a right to post on any public website I wish to, that is Freedom of Speech, especially a site which advertises itself as a site to take complaints about treatment by businesses of government agencies.

No it won't, because it shows how abusive the Arlington Family Court system is. Please don't tell me not to post on public forums, that is my right. I don't tell other people where they can and can not post their complaints. When I don't agree with some one, I don't tell them to "get a grip" that is insulting. Anyway, are you an administrator of this site?

Ramelle, I do not see that you have presented a case where the grandmother should be denied custody, as she has stated her love for her granddaughter, and has been her legal guardian for many years, and where the granddaughter has stated that she wishes to be kept with her biological family. Of course I respect other people's freedom of speech, I just don't respect their insulting comments.

I have not insulted anyone. And it is not for you or anyone else to determine who should or should not be given custody of their children or grandchildren. Other people tried to tell me I should not have posted the complaint in the first place, and I simply challenged that. This site is advertised as a place to post ANY complaints.

Again, Ramelle, you don't know anything about why the petition was denied. I'm simply stating a case here that the granddaughter expressed a wish to be kept with her biological family, and was treated with police brutality when she tried to express that.

No one deserves to be beat up by the police, especially not a 12 year old girl, who simply wants to speak to her Guardian Ad
Litem, the person who is supposed to be appointed to represent her interests.

In response to Chowderhed (which is, oddly enough, a slang term for a flaky or dim-witted person), I believe that court guards or bailiffs should behave in a respectable and professionally restrained manner. If they can't refrain from bloodying a small teenage girl, who was legitimately trying to get her opinion heard above the railroading, fascistic, totalitarian machinations of a seemingly corrupt Arlington "Family" Court system, then these guards should be held accountable and fired. Perhaps then they need to be sued civilly, with a jury weighing in. Their names, photos and past misbehavior should be widely publicized so that the general populace is informed what a farce "justice" is in Arlington County. All the child kidnappings under color of law (conducted under the guise of "child protection") need to be brought to the attention of this county, this nation and the entire world. Child kidnappings and "foster abduction" orchestrated by Child "Protective" Services and all its other similarly functioning, but differently named related "social service" agencies throughout the western world need to be revealed as the heinous abuses of family-parental civil rights that they are.

What if the court was not treating her in a respectful manner, not respecting her wish to make her own feelings known about who should have custody of her?

What happened is that she tried to speak to her GAL outside the courtroom, and the GAL refused her request. The judge in this case has a reputation throughout Northern VA for not listening to minor children or taking their concerns seriously.

GAL's are not infallible, they make wrong decisions all the time which are not really in the best interests of the children, but in the interests of political expediency or doing favors for those with connections.

To get federal funding for placing a child for adoption under CAPTA and ASFA

No, there you are, resorting to personal attacks! I guess you don't have a good argument.

Okay, if you don't choose to do anything to help Ashley O'Brien, then fine, but don't insult other people who choose to.

Thank you, WatchOut4You, that's good advice, and I have taken this to other sources as well. Perhaps you and your friends could also send e-mails to the GAL and caseworkers, as I have, protesting their treatment of the girl? That was actually one of the reasons why I posted it to this site, as well as to others. You are indeed correct, when I click on the profiles of the people who have made the most insulting comments here, I find that they have cyber-bullied other people on other complaints too.

Thank you, Hogwarts. Except remarks like "You're whacked. Schizophrenic much?" ARE cyber-bullying.

i don't have to present a case for denying custody, you have to present a case for granting it, which you obviously did not, since your petition was denied.

Then respect other people's freedom of speech Nancy. There are many reasons why a grandparent may be denied custody, and this post is a good example of one.
