Complaint: Advertised as an Adults-Only Resort (Children Were Present)

Vacation Dates: September 4-7, 2022

Review

We recently stayed at this property. The property was less than a year old, so was excited to stay. After traveling a majority of the day we arrived to the property. The grounds were beautiful so our excitement grew. Check in was easy, champagne flowing, excitement was brewing! After checking in, and again a long travel day to the resort, an associate stopped us, and of course took another 30 minutes to upsell a Time Shre opportunity. After repetitively shutting down them down from the last time share fiasco, we were directed to our room (confusing layout for a new hotel!).

Room

The suite was beautiful. One complaint, the supposed plunge pool on the balcony was dirty. I called to ask for it to be cleaned, and the receptionist stated they filter the water everyday; and no way that the pool can be cleaned? So I decided not to use it. Also, the housekeeping had a problem understanding to bring clean wash cloths when cleaning the rooms? The beds were hard, but doable. After sever requests of asking the mini bar to be restocked, I had to wait until the next day to not receive anything but beer and soft drinks. An in-room minibar was advertised, but definitely not provided.

Room Service

The food in the room was provided in a very timely manner, with very polite staff. The portions are smaller and limited with requesting on the menu vs what is actually available. Also, there are no menu substitutions.

Food Out of the Room

We paid extra to access the Preferred Club thankfully. That area was kid-free and had great customer service. Every other area on the property, roaming to the beach, walking around, kids were present. That is something I did not want on my trip, and the staff did not have a solution as they just looked at us in question. We saw kids, and presented the issue to the staff to no avail. We frequented the SkyBar, as there service was awesome. When attending Coco Café’ & Gelato on the property, we were presented with service discrimination. It couldn’t be racial discrimination in Mexico right? My sister and I did not have a mask, was not offered one, and was stated they could not serve us without a mask. As we were walking out, a white man came in right behind us, without a mask, was offered a mask by the service rep and was served? Not wanting any issues, I made me Call it what you want besides not right. At my sister's celebratory dinner, we told the host it was her birthday. Nothing special offered, dessert, song, to make the stay more enjoyable.

Service

We were celebrating my sister's birthday, and requested the Happy Birthday banner to be on the door at arrival... which it was not. I called to request, the next day, still no banner. Finally, thankfully, the third day they were able to comply?

Kids

Secrets is advertised as an adults-only facility. We based our booking around this amenity. At check in, we were told then that the property was attached to Dreams, and no kids would be allowed on the Secrets side of the resort. All of the restaurants, common areas were shared with Dreams which meant kids... This is false advertisement and was extremely disappointed. But could not do anything about it.

Recommendation

I would not recommend staying at Secrets Bahia Mita Surf and Spa. It is not worth the value of your money, it is not adults only, and truly put a damper on my experience.

Desired outcome: Request: Please provide either a full refund, partial refund or vacation credit for the inconvenience and false advertisement of this property
