This is the worst allied health school around. The management is poor and the admissions department lets criminals and low lives enter the school. About 50% of the students have no possible way to gain employment in the medical field because they are ignorant. There are dopeheads, and low poverty students. The teachers are not prepared to teach. It is a waste of time and money. Please do not come to this hell hole. It is similiar to a prison. The tuition is outrageous and a scam to get your money. There are no resources and tools to help students succeed.

I went to school for two years at the Macon campus I had been pregnant both years and the last year I went I was at hospital in labor and only had one test to take before I was done and when I had my twins they knew I was at hospital giving birth and told me I could make up the test and get my certificate/ diploma but then once I was able to get back in school they told me my gpa was .5 below their grading system and I wasn’t allowed to retake the class or anything and they want me to pay 7,000$ for student loans need less to say when I started school I was 17 years old and had no clue about scammers and such nor did I have a high school diploma or ged and they still accepted me . I went for mbic and wasted so much time and money . Was so upset as well

I also attended this school in [protected] and yes the allegations are very true! Right til this day I get harrassed regarding the student loan that was taking out for this school. I have never been able to take my state certification test and I did not get any job placement that I was promised in the beginning. I even tried to transfer my credits since I finished and graduated but I cant do that either! I really wish they would make this school payoff all the students loans who hasn't benefitted from this school which I'm sure is MOST! It was the worse decision I've ever made!

I attended API in 2012 with the MIBC program. Everything went well, I finished my course and started my extern. Well after about three weeks I became sick so I had to take a leave of absence and then I relocated back to my hometown before I finished. I made sure that it would be fine to move to a different area and still be able to finish, WRONG. After months of searching and trying to get a extern site and still taking leave of absence every month I stop hearing from my instructor. After she finally respond, she informs me that she can't find a site because the school it's a known school AND she's not only the instructor but the extern counselor, three weeks later she tells me the school is closing that month, she can no longer help me and there is nothing she can do. Now the board of education says I unenrolled from school in 2013 and the school just closed 12/31/2015 what the hell is going on

I went there in 2012 and studied massage therapy. The teacher I had was good but she was flirtatious with students. Sexual harassment was the worst. I was ambushed in an empty class room by one of the staff and his co! was hard as a rock. I managed to calm him without causing a scene. I promised not to snitch as long as he left me alone. I attended a graduation dinner and was told I would receive my diploma inn the mail and stood in line to write all my information that they should have already had because they mailed me the dinner invite. Shortly before graduating I was given contact information for a friend of an employee and when I went out to try and perform a professional massage her friend asked me to massage his groin only. I do feel ripped off. Not really professional conduct from a "professional institute". F!CK API!

I agree with every complaint on here. I attended between [protected] year and it was a relaxed environment, but toward the end of the program 90% of the students couldn't obtain nothing but a CNA job. I attended expecting to get a job as an medical assistant once I completed the program. We did not have any help from the staff with job placements and until this day most of us don't have jobs in our field of study. This is a waste of time school and money for something you can't use in the future not to mention the lack of training from the instructors. Please run fast as you can away from this school, I see someone mentioned the name of the school changed actually it didn't that was the name of it when it was first established and founded years ago they just changed the name back to the original name. Please do not be fooled do your research people.

I took Medical Billing and Coding there in 2006. My teacher was sweet but the quality of education there sucks. The morale was even lower and it was rumored that the school used fraudulent financial aid techniques. No one lived on campus yet room and board costs were rumored to have accounted for the outrageous costs. It later changed its name to Helms College or just disconnected this particular campus(Eisenhower Pkwy) from it's main campus on Riverside Dr in Macon Ga. The most challenging part of making it at this institution was acclimating myself to the socially seedy environment and the petty and immature personalities and teacher-student rivalries.

The school is now under new ownership and management and the name has been changed to Woodruff Medical. Check out their Facebook page too and see the difference. Happy and proud students. Big improvement from before!

After completing the massage program and graduating I still have not been able to take the State Licensing test. Every time I call API to ask about why I can't take the test I get an excuse. One was " You have to take an exit exam." Not even the instructor knew about the test. I took it four months after I completed and passed it still no license test. Now I have to pay the student loan they forced me to take before I can take the test. I haven't even received the certificate of completion nor the free massage table promised when I completed. It's like I was never there. I think this is just a scam to get students to make loans and waste time.

I attend API for cosmetology in Macon Georgia and cannot wait to transfer! I live across town and have to work during the week to even be able to afford gas to get there. At first, they said it was okay that they understood I have to support myself somehow. Now, it's that I'm being irresponsible. Also, I recently found out I'm pregnant. Morning sickness is kicking my butt and when I told my teacher I preferred not to take any clients first thing in the morning because of it, she told me I could either suck it up or go home! She also announced my pregnancy to half the staff WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! She never congratulated me and instead, treated me like I was an inconvienence. You can bet I went home that day. Also decided to transfer. Do not attend this school unless you want to be treated like trash and given a ### education. I'll be transferring and definitely NEVER returning.

I started API Gainesville campus in December of this year( 2012) and in the first month 3 instructors walked. To gain some sort of stability I changed to day classes and that was a mistake. It took them 3 weeks after classes started and after our first final to get our books! They make a HUGE issue about attendance to the point you better be dead not to attend they do not realize in the real world people get sick or have issues that can't be helped come up. They tell you when you enroll classes are Mon- Thur so you rearrange your work schedule to work Fri - Sat - Sun then they take every " Holiday" off and make you make it up on Fridays knowing half the student body has to work. Instead of saying we understand that you have to work to support your family it's we're going to make it mandatory you attend or you lose 10pts. on your homework. It's not right that they penalize the ones who have to work! The thing that pisses me off the most is I am paying 14, 000 dollars for an education and not getting what I need to accomplish that! They hit an all time low when myself and a hand full of others chose to study for finals instead of watch a movie and eat pizza we told we were being disrespectful, EXCUSE ME... First of all you don't come in yelling at students without asking them why then when you try to explain you cut off and I find it disrespectful to me and my instructors that I don't have books to work out of and because of that I'm so far behind I'm going to have to retake this module due to their lack of priorities. They need to take the Professional out of their title because their anything but. New name should be American Screw You out of your money Institute. There is only one instructor I have any kind of respect for and he is wonderful. He does all he can to help us learn. I wish all the instructors were like him. I'll just call him Dr. G. all the other instructors say they care about us but they could care less. The students that stayed and studied got zeros for studying and not watching a movie that had nothing to do with medicine or what we we're studying, we could have left campus like several did but we didn't and it's not fair we got zeros for doing what we're paying them to do educate us. I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone and in my opinion they should be shut down!

API has sure got their priorities OUT OF ORDER ! The Gainesville Campus would rather let the students watch a Movie (which had nothing to do with what was being studied) and serve pizza...sounds all good right? umm WRONG. When you are paying 14K to get a half@ss education from a place like API, you need every minutes you can get. The teachers also like to taddle tail and play like this is pre-school...giving homework that is pointless and not any sort of learning matterial. Some teachers can not even get supplies they need...like staples for the stapler...WTF? We students are paying out the butt for this and teachers can not even get supplies...O and to the people who are new @ API, how in the world do the people think you are suppose to earn and get good grades if you do not have your books? How can you start school and go 2 weeks with out your books, and still be expected to learn? WTF?

I'm not sure if those "teachers" are qualified to teach anything at this school.. Since there's no standard for admission, the quality of the students is terrible. We will NEVER hire anybody who attended API.

i total agree, that school is the worst school ever. i hope all the students can get their loans paid off by the school. API have got over on all their students, i feel that school is all about getting money, every 6 months tuition goes up. when i start it was 13, 500 therses no telling how much it is now.
