This breeder sold a litter of puppies last August that were delivered with Kennel Cough. She did not tell us owners, some of which flew to Buffalo, NY to pick the dogs up, that the puppies were ill. She was also not willing to reimburse for vet bills, in fact she told us not to take the puppies to the vet. I also just heard of a 4 year old Wheaten from her that has hip dysplasia. Stay far away from this breeder! Overall a nasty woman too.
Your puppy was treated before leaving but unexpectedly flared up with the stress of a new home. You could have not taken her, you were told she had been treated. My vet told you it had to run it's course like a cold and it was nothing to be worried about. You chose to run up extensive testing which was invasive and did nothing to help the dog and could have caused . You have a beautiful puppy/dog of top quality. I offered for you to return her for a full refund. As for a dysplastic dog, I have never received any veterinarian records for any dogs I have sold to support your accusation. All our dogs are completely health tested.
Marie...You were informed of my dog having hip dysplasia from my vets x rays. You wanted to have ofa x rays done and wouldn't accept the ones i already paid for. My vet said ofa x rays are only done for breeding dogs and were a costly procedure and he didn't advise it or the expense especially since there was already proof. Fast forward to 2020, my dog has another inherited disease, LVDD that is an extremely painful and progressive disease of the spinal colum. Again you blew me off and told me to never contact you again! So much for your claim to be there throughout the dogs life.
My dog is 2 years old and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in August last year. She is from Almar as well. I also felt very badly treated when we communicated the health issues with the breeder, they took no responsibility whatsoever. The emails were hostile and of no help to us, who had paid a lot of money for a healthy purebred wheaten. Our very first dog. Now we have a dog with a genetic hip problem who will need treatment for the rest of her life and also possibly surgery. If you want a healthy puppy from a serious breeder that will give you assistance and support when needed, stay away from Almar.
As you can see from this breeder’s response above, she thinks she does nothing wrong. This arrogance is palpable in all interactions. We placed a deposit on a Wheaton having been told by the breeder that it was hypoallergenic and she would return our deposit if our son found out he was allergic but SG e told us that our sensitive son shouldn’t be allergic and encouraged us to have him play with a Wheaton to confirm. We did so and he had a severe reaction. We called this breeder and asked for our deposit back. She refused denying that she had offered to do so but that we could still have the dog. We who JLT found a friend to take the dog (who promised to pay us back the deposit) and she said she had sold the dog to someone else. In short this breeder confiscated our deposit and wouldn’t deliver the dog. She was arrogant to a fault in all of our dealings.
Buyer be aware. This is one nasty person. Find your dog elsewhere.
All deposits are non-refundable. You decided you did not want a dog and demanded your deposit back.
I have never owned one of Marie’s Wheatens but several friends have. The dogs are healthy and beautiful. I cared for one dog while the owner worked and went on vacation. He was the best dog ever. He was my Wheaten’s best friend and I would have owned him in a heartbeat if I could. I have never heard accusations like this about this breeder from any of the owners. Sandy Cook
We are on our second Wheaten from Almar Wheatens, and have nothing but the kindest words for Marie. These dogs are beautiful and we would gladly return for another. We made the trip to Buffalo from New Jersey, and it was well worth the long ride & effort! A loyal customer and fellow Wheaten lovers since 2009!
I purchased a wheaten from Marie 12 years ago. She is kind, caring, and she knows her dogs. She goes to great lengths to ensure the healthiest possible breed. I am sickened by the negative comments on here. My Sammy is 12 years old and Marie STILL takes the time to talk to me about any concerns I have for my old boy. I love her and am grateful to have found her!
I have a Wheaton from Almar as well. Three of her dew claws were removed, but not her front left one. And now has a lump. It’s started bothering her, and I am currently out of work and unable to pay to have that dew claw removed. Wondering if they removed clause of others? I heard it was the breeders responsibility. Also, I was told my dog would come with the microchip, but was never given the information about the microchip. I do know they still breed, but not SCWT any longer.
