Hi, I bought a Toshiba Canvio Advance 4TB HDD Black on 2 August 2026 from Challenger. Receipt was not given on that day and I was told I could retrieve it in the Value-club App.
I later realized I had bought the wrong item. When I returned to the store within the 7-day period to request a refund, I was disappointed to be told that I could only exchange it for items of equivalent or higher value. I was told they expect a 60-year-old lady to read the fine print of the return policy from the phone App. Feeling pressured, I reluctantly accept an exchange for a Transcend ESD420C MagSafe 1TB Portable SSD Iron Grey and even had to top up another item because the value did not exceed the original amount. I was also informed that Challenger membership is non-refundable/irrevocable. Service wise, even though I had been at the front of the queue for quite a while, the store manager asked me to go to the back of the queue for the exchange. I want to bring this matter to CASE for further advice. Is this fair under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act?
