WBZ's traffic reports are severely lacking in content and honesty. Regarding content, they often don't update information unless someone calls to tell them about a traffic snarl in which the caller is stuck (too late to save others from the delay). They often infer either explicity or by lack of comment that "Rt 128" on the North Shore is fine when it's not. It's only upon calling and asking pointed questions that one learns there are no Mass. Highway Department cameras (on which WBZ relies heavily) north of I-93 on Rt 128. They should simply say, "We have no information about upper Rt 128, so you're on your own."

Isn't it about time you made a decision on a permanent weekday host for your overnight radio program? We certainly miss Steve L., and hope you will let us know what happened to his departure. In the meantime, you have an experienced hand, a former newspaperman and a non-descript character who hardly can utter a bi-syllable word into the microphone that he must find tasty (he also listens to himself on the headset). What's up? Thanks - enjoy the hourly newscasts, especially when my old WGAN-Radio Portland Maine-buddy, Don Huff, is there. Ron Palmquist, Cape Elizabeth, Maine

I just drove past a horrific accident on Rte 93, in the SB lane, north of Boston around exit 38. Fire, overturned cars and about 30 emergency vehicles. Firefighters putting out a flaming husk of a car, road closed for medflight. I listened to WBZ 1030 to see what was going on...and not only were there NO traffic on the 3's reports (it was some obnoxious talk show that ran straight through 1/2 hr), at 12:03AM when they finally did a traffic report they reported no problems on 93 aside from the Fast 14 bridge projects! Really really sloppy traffic reports, this was a glaring error and there was about 30 minutes between the end of the accident and the terrible report. And no, it wasn't cleared away by then.
