I too have been a victim of the Var Tec Telecom Inc. dba Clear Choice Communications, [protected] phone number scam.

I have been incurring a monthly fee, by said company, which I NEVER AUTHORIZED OR SIGNED FOR.

I do not have a designated long distance carrier, or so I thought. After reviewing my last months 4/07
AT&T phone bill, showing a monthly charged from Clear Choice Communications I am very upset
that this has probably been going on for some time.

I need precise directions on how to:

1. stop the monthly billing on my local phone carrier service.
2. reclaim reimbursement for the unauthorized monthly fees.

    I agree. I too, found this on my bill. Also, watch out for ILD teleservices, Inc. Another billed to me by ATT. I am trying to get rid these un-authorized charges. Collecting on amounts already paid? Who knows? To those who thru direct debits to checking account, BEWARE.

    My mother, age 94, at one time used Clear Choice. She discontinued the service and started using Var Tec. She continued to be billed by Clear Choice and Var Tec, which I later discovered were the same company. She refused to pay the Clear Choice bill so late charges drove the bill from $30 to over $50 and was threatened with disconnection. Over the span of 4 years everyone in the family called the company with varying results. One sister even was told we were due a refund. After a complete run-around from AT &T and Clear Choice we gave up and paid the disputed amount. We are now waiting to see if it is removed from her bill or if our elderly mother who still lives alone will wake up tomorrow with no phone service. My question now is how can Var Tec be removed from her phone. Can she be able to call long distance on AT&T without any other add on carrier.

    As long as Vartec actually was Vartec the monthly bills I received for their services was correct.Only after Excell bought out Vartec the problems started. I call my family in Europe on a daily basis and on a land line.Vartec charged me 21 cents per minute instead of 3.9 cents Dozens of times I called their lousy customer service to no avail.The people who answer at costumer service have no authority.Complaints must be mailed or faxed to Irving Texas.With third party billing they have no record and from AT&T I never received duplicates. I called at least 25 times within 1 1/2 years. My account was sent to collection. It was very stress full and I just paid my bill to get them off my back.
    If you want a real deal on calling to at .least 22 countries in Europe for just 1/2 Cent per minute and a low 20 Cent connection fee go to 1010229.com and check it out.Their are similar savings to other countries as well. ( Peru and Costa Rica) as an example are just 04 Cents per minute and 20 Cents to connect. If you call within the US it is just 1/2 Cent a minute.If you speak to a person at Vartec it seams as the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Do yourself a favor and avoid aggravation and stress check out 1010229 .com and you will find no better deal.

    you know something? i had just quit that damn job is because i have never heard of a service like that in my entire life of 23 years. how can you have a service fee of $5.95 for just everything??? its just so impossible to me. and some people have actually bought out service and other customer that i have spoke to on the phone were having some complaints about how it kept getting disconnected! its just crazy to me. i dont believe in telemarketing. its a DRUG DEALER job!!!

    I have been getting a bill form Clear Choice aka vartec for $11.81, which we never used nor authorized! I called and asked what it was for and was told that I used a code to call long distance. We NEVER did!! I cancelled my "account" which we never actually authorized, and still got a bill. The customer svc is no help on the phone. Never a supervisor available. This is fraud and harrassment!
