USA Truck Careless and Clueless Company

Go ahead and find out the "hard way" here at USA Truck. They aren't the "worst" company to drive for but, they certainly aren't one of the "better" companies to drive for out here. I've been driving rigs for quite a while. And I've had my share of good ones and bad ones; "trucking companies". But, in all honesty; USA Truck isn't all they claim to be. Like many trucking companies who will "make it sound good and inviting" for example; "good pay, home time, driver focused, good equipment" and the list goes on. The reality is; it's far from that here at "USA Truck". I've been pulling freight for USA Truck for 2 1/2 years now. And to tell it to ya' straight, "it's been one helluva'-ride". I've been to places that are a trick to find and get to. I've had the misfortune of having my pay messed with numerous times and having to contact "payroll" and even the "Terminal Manager" to have the matter reconciled.

I don't know how many times had to talk to payroll to get the money then on top of that it took up to 2 weeks for them to get it fixed. No one needs to drive for them they are the worst company I have ever seen in the trucking companies.

USA Truck Hiring Practices

We were talked into going by bus to Vandalia, OH for orientation for USA Trucking. Getting to Vandalia Greyhound, there were 5 of us waiting almost 2 hours in the cold and rain waiting for our "shuttle" which was a taxi which would only hold 4 of us. We never did see the 5th guy show up. Our driver said ours was the last trip of the night... So we get to the motel after 11 and have to be up at 5 to get ready to catch the 6 oclock ride to orientation...After finding time to fill out the THIRD employment application the desk clerk threw at us to bring in the am. We're a team so figure everythings good - promised a nice hire on bonus etc. We had called and called and talked and emailed and said we will NOT COME UNTIL ALL THE BACKGROUND WAS DONE. We were assured it was. Then on the third day, after actually signing on with taxes and off time and the paperwork for them to get their tax break----LO AND BEHOLD---they first couldn't get hold of our old boss, then did and got a bullcrap story of time driven. Which our old boss denies and called them to ream them out right in front of us. We have 30 yrs of experience - not a word said against us by any employer and even have letters of recommedation and re-hire statements from ex-employers. Maybe they're just after that paper signature for the government tax $$$$? Don't believe a word USA recruiters or trainers tell you. One guy was there cuz CRST rejected him for "learning too slow"! He might be on the road with ya all in the near future! But went through C1 so they can get a little dough out of him!

I was recruited in July 2009 by USA Truck. I took a 4 day miserable bus ride from Sacramento CA to Van Buren Ar. Worst 4 days of my life. After a 4 day joke of an orientation, I found out the truck assigned to me was in North Carolina. I was told I would get my pay rate, .34 per mile for the bus ride. Another 3 days on a bus and I was only paid for 812...

USA Truck Awful company to work for

12/18/09
This a company that offers you nothing but good promises, great income, and a new career…Does it sound too good to be truth? Keep dreaming…This is what I found.
Their dispatchers treat you worst than a slave. They think that because you are a driver you’re got to be dump and they treat you accordingly. Do you get treated nice? Yes if you’re ok with driving all over the place, low mileage pay and $45.00, $120.00, $350.00, and for sure not more than $500.00 paychecks every week, then this is the company for you. They will make sure your pay check will get no bigger than this amount. If someone else tells you that they got bigger paychecks is because they work as trainers or in teams. If you called to complaint that your paycheck does not reflect your mileage driven, they play dump saying that it was a mistake and that you will get the right amount next pay period. How often will you experience this? Every time you get scheduled to go home. Imagine going home expecting at least $500.00 to pay some bills or rent and your pay check is less than $240.00. You already save to pay some bills, but you’re counting with this extra money and you just don’t get it, and when you finally get to paid your bills you got all these extra charges you need to take care of. Now let’s talk about truck repairs. Every single time you go to the repair shop you’re told that they can’t service your truck till Thursday and today is Monday. What a nice way to tell you get out of here, I am busy and don’t bother me. How many times did I experience it? 4. How many times did I see it? More than 40, I am not exaggerating here, and if they finally service your truck, you’re up for a good surprise; they take lots of short cuts on everything. The only time your truck gets good service is when you’re broken down in the middle of the highway. The biggest problem is how this affects your income, and I already mention they don’t really care about your income as long as they continue to get their hourly pay or their monthly salary. If for any reason you’re not happy with your mileage, truck, or dispatcher your manager will tell you to leave the truck right there, don’t mind the cargo or how you’ll be able to get home, they will tow the truck and by the way you’re paying for it. They have what they called an escrow account, money is deducted from your paycheck every week and deposit in this account to pay for any damages or tow expenses. Did this happen to me? Yes it did, 1600 miles away from home, since you get mediocre paychecks not enough money to get back home. Do I know if this happened to other drivers? Yes at least 3, all from the same orientation class. The orientation class was about 60 people, and they started selecting drivers, at the end of the orientation only 18 drivers got hire, the rest were sent home for multiple reasons, most of them did not agreed on low pay. Why did I take this job, if the pay was not what it should be? Like most people I told my self that I could do this, and once they notice my performance, I’ll be able to get a rise. Picking loads on time, delivery on time not matter how long the distance or the weather. Did I ask for a rise? Yes I did. Did I get one? I kept on dreaming.
How good was my truck? 2009, with an APU. Does everyone get this kind of equipment? Not, only in your dreams my friend. If this makes sense to you, and the income is ok with you, I guess this is the right company for you to work for. If not, then don’t even try it. I wish I could be able to tell you more but I have to go.
Sincerely: Dump truck driver

I’ve been driving for usa truck for 6 months now first job in the industry. I have to say at first it was great I was averaging [protected] miles a week and with going through 3 different dms they been running me on recaps! And getting nothing but live loads/unloads all in mid afternoon appointments u can’t make any money doing that especially the way I run. Plus all there trucks are governed at 65 mph I managed to get it up to 77 though loaded and going down I 24 To top that off they gave me a pos 2013 Freightliner with 474k miles on it I’m at 522k right now. They say oh if u wait a couple more months we’ll give u a “newer” truck! My [censor] I told them I might go owner op or ic before that and buy my own truck. They don’t reimburse u if u got a Twic card like me but they do reimburse for hazmat. Give this company 6-12 months don’t burn the bridge bc after first year more opportunities will open up. Negativity pulls u down staying positive keeps u moving forward. Would I’d recommend this company yes and no for a new driver like myself yes for a vet no only if there owner op bc from what I heard they pay there owner op 67 percent

First to all driver i would like to say that im not kissing nobody's ###. But the true and reality is way, way back. All the guys that are complaining its fine, but dont lie about all the crap that you posting, Usa Truck is not that bad like this dumb ### are complaining, if you want miles here is the miles, if you know how to properly use your hours you will get good results not just here, every company. first learn how to ###ing drive, get some experience, Learn how to properly use HOS, run hard, get paid, get home time and enjoy your money. I'd been with 4 companies already such as us express, covenant is the worst, heartland express is ok.
When i see comments like this, i just get irritated because laziness is what you guys have behind the wheel, find a job in McDonald's that will fill all your experience...lol... not as a trucker cause you're not.
If you have more questions i will answer...

Been driving for USA for 14 months. Consistently run [protected] every week. And I go home every 2 weeks. $1000+ a week is never a problem. All trucks are equipped with inverters. Not many companies do that. I think the previous comments come from those of us who naturally complain about anything and everything. So they'll need never be happy. Focus on the negative and that's what you'll get. Also, people think this is a job...its not. It's a lifestyle.
Personally, I hate it. But it pays better than anything else unless you have higher education. USA is an average to above average company to work for. I've been doing this for 15 years.

I am a new comer to the trucking industry and I will be going to USA truck. I am about to finish up my paid schooling that was sponsored by USA truck. I have heard from a friend that drives trucks USA is a good starter company. I have had a class B for 5 yrs and getting in the seat of a 18 wheeler is a whole different ball game compared to driving dump trucks and knuckle boom trucks. I have a new respect for truck drivers. And for the guy that says people that say USA is a good company are butt kissers if that's what it takes to become a good driver and get the experience I need than so be it.
