Bass Pro Shops - Poor customer service, communication, availability of mgt. Poor purchase processing, lack of adherence

On April 18th I purchased a revolver online which I paid for with my credit card, It indicated that it was a special order item and that I would be notified as soon as the firearm was sent and received at my closest store (being in Mesa, AZ.) as I live in Heber, AZ. (250 mi. R/T) As I hadn't heard anything since the purchase I elected to call the store to check on the status of my purchase and was told that the purchase was available and ready for pick up, I drove to the store on the 29th of April and was told that some additional paper work was necessary but that and an additional minor background check was also necessary, of which I was would only take maybe 15 minutes, then there was an issue with needing additional identification of which I complied with by changing my physical address on my drivers license, (I live in Heber, AZ. no mail box's, only P. O Box's) While standing waiting for more then two & a half hours I was told I could go to customer receiving and pick up the ammunition I purchased so I did and took the ammunition to my vehicle for convenience and security purposes (was never told that once I left the store it would not be returnable!) I returned to waiting area and continued waiting an additional two plus hours. after which a representative came out and stated that there was a hick up in my BGC and that it would require a "live individual" would have to review, causing me to return to pick up the purchase (another 250 mile R/T, and an additional $100. in fuel plus time lost!) The representative took my phone number and said that I would be contacted as soon as they received confirmation of the background check, gave me we're so big you know "Sorry About That response to my frustration in a somewhat condescending way" I returned to my home in Heber, AZ. and waited for the curtesy call / follow up I expected which never came. On the 4th of May I called into the store and as usual was passed around a couple of times until a none related manager from another department literally hand walked up to the hunting department and shared my/our issue (while still on the phone so I could hear the responses and after several negative responses were made I was told that it was "all" the blame was that of the Government! I believe that the system is overwhelmed due to the enormous demand, but I truly believe that the convoluted and inadequate service policies of Bass Pro-Shop and it's inability to monitor, engage and properly communicate is the biggest hindrance to Bass Pro-Shop reasonable and necessary customer service policies! I am a 74 year old Viet Num era veteran who has purchased fire arms from your establishment prior but would have to seriously reconsider that choice in the future. I have never had this issue at any other gun store or retail establishment. I will expect a response to this complaint and believe I am due a reasonable compensation for lost time, inconvenience and monetary loss. I will await your timely response. Desired outcome: purchased items, improvement in this process in the future w/o deflection of blame or responsibility, necessary customer service communication / customer resolution process. Some reasonable compensation for of time and monetary loss.
