I'm a learner driver and have been for about 2 years. Since then, I've paid large amounts of money to driving schools & instructors. The process of booking a license test in South Africa is bereuacratic and incompitent. In Komantipoort, one must make a booking to make a booking (bearing in mind it takes an hour and a half to get there. In Malelane we waited for an hour and couldn't even get inside. In Sabie the people were very rude telling us how they expect everyone to "stand and que from 3 or 4 in the morning". The Graskop testing is now closed. White River was helpful, although the testing dates are far away. Nelspruit is only open on select days and is rumoured to be corrupt. I am now at Delmas where I have been waiting for almost 2 hours in freezing weather. There are people inside, however we are not being helped. This counrty is making it impossoble for people for book and do things the legal way. (it takes all day, so full days of school are missed.). I'm utterly disappointed and will never put myself through this tedious process again. An online booking system must be intorduced!

I have not had any personal problems with traffic departments but the service I received when I phoned in for an accident report was disappointing. I spoke to Dudu and she wasn't interested in helping at all, even giving her name was a mission. I wanted to know what info she needed of my client in order for her to retrieve the records i requested. she told me "next time you must phone with all information, you must know what's required, i have a person waiting here at the counter and you are searching and wasting time." i asked if she'd rather not wait and she rudely advised "I said next time"! she proceeded to ask the relevant questions eventually and when i didn't have some of what she wanted she told "its gonna be difficult to find". all this happened and you can tell from the way she's talking that she's chewing - not gum, she was eating. Question is "why is she eating in front of the people she claims are at the counter waiting for her. She asked me to hold, retrieved the "difficult to find" info in less than 2 minutes and I asked her to send me copies. Screaming her lungs out she advised "I can't send you the reports, they are not free, you have to pay"... the point of this complaint is that the service I received from this female is really not right/ necessary/ complimentary to what we're trying to build as a nation.

Randburg testing station, 5 Hans Schoeman Drive, [protected] is full of nonsense, corruption and incompetent staff and management who don't care about us, their customers, who only care for money. Last week, Wednesday, the 6th 2013, I arrived as early as 6h00 AM and we joined the que outside while they were still closed and they opened the gates at 7h00 AM. They gave us forms to fill in we stood there until 1o'clock and the next thing they tell us there are no dates we should come the follwing Wednesday, the 13th 2013. I did come back the follwing Wednesday, the 13th and this time arriving at 5h00 AM and we joined the que and I was amongst the first group. When we got inside the gate at 7h00 AM we stood there for about 30 minutes and no one was helping us inside and then after that they started serving us and then an hour later 08h30 AM were were told that there are no more dates and we should come back next week, Wednesday, the 20th, 2013.
Last week we applied for leaves at our works to come and book and we didn't get any help and also today, we asked our managers to give yet another leave day the 13th so we can go and book and they were so kind to us and they allowed us and yet the Randburg licencing department did not assist us.
What happens there the driving school would bribe staff inside including their securities and bring their people whom they do lessons with them and get inside without having to fall in the que and they give those driving schools and their people testing dates that are so close. These driving schools they come with their people in large numbers, using taxis and trucks. By the time we get inside we are told that there are no available date and when other people in the que are fortunate get the chance to get inside they give the dates which are so far away. So which means they are now doing business in the goverment sector, they only care for those who can pay them bribes and you don't pay bribe you don't get get assistance and they chase. Today, Wednesday, the 13th, I asked them because they know in advance how many vailable dates they have on the system, why can't they count number of people who are on the que, lets say they have 40 availabe dates and then they say the rest can come back the following Wednesday, and nobody answered me that question. They clearly know if they can do that they won't find any bribes from their friends and those driving schools. I wanted to talk to their manage and we were told he was in a meeting and We had to wait for him until he comes back from 08h30 AM until 12h00 and when he arrived we approached him and told him averything that is happening around his testing station. He told us that that is not his problem and what's happening outside his office is none of his business and we should not wait his time. His attitude was not good and he was so rude. He clearly knows what is happening inside and I am sure he is also getting kicks-baks and bribes from these driving schools and other outsiders for driver's test, learners and roadyworthy checking. I told him you can't be a manager and tell us what happens outside your office is none of your business, you are managing the place and you should know everything that's happening around and guide your staff to do right and not to accept bribes and favours, He then tells me if you have a problem with his testing station I must to another testing stations, he says there is plenty of them. Just tell me what kind of an answer from a Manager who is running a testing station like Randburg, clearly this person must go for a Management course and customer service course, because he is so incompetent and he doesn, t know how to treat well customers. I am sure all the staff there need to go for customer service courses because they are all rude to the clients. If this people were in the private sector they would have been long gone, deployed, fired or jailed. We are sick and tired of corruption within the testing departments in South Africa, please help me and other fellow South Africans and follow up on this.
