This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

On Sunday, May 7, 2022, I was at your Blue Island, IL location, 12052 South Western to get gas for my vehicle. I was at pump 6 and using my credit card for the transaction. After entering my credit card I began to pump gas noticing that $25.00 was registered on the pump. I thought that I could only get $25.00 so I began pumping my gas. As I finished pumping my gas the cashier announced to the customer on pump 5 that she had put the other customer $25.00 on pump 6 by mistake and that I was pumping her gas. The cashier's words over the intercom was " Your money ($25.00) is on pump 6 and that man is taking your gas right now!' Well this got all the customers attention so all eyes were on me as though I did something wrong.

As my wife and the other involved customer tried to explain I understood the mistake that your cashier made. At that moment your employee came out to the pump accusing me of knowingly taking the other customer gas ($25) and was planning to run off. Which in turn upset the customer who began to think I was trying to take her gas. The customer became frustrated and began to yell at me as though I purposely pumped her gas which clearly was your employee fault.

Now with your employee and the other customer yelling and using profanity at me I attempted to give the other customer the $25 I had pumped in my tank from a mistake your employee made. I had $20 in my pocket and gave it to the customer with plans to return to my car for the other $5. Your employee became belligerent which added fuel to the situation and in turn provoked the customer to her boiling point. Your unprofessional employee began taking pictures of my license plate (thinking that I was going to drive off!) Then your unprofessional employee who started this whole mess called the police. In the midst of all the yelling and confusion I did not return to my car to retrieve the customer $5 so a nice man, also a customer, offered/gave the frustrated, crying customer $5 out of the kindness of his heart.

All parties involved waited for the police. When the police arrived and heard the story they responded to us all (put especially the frustrated customer) that it sounds like a mistake which they (policemen) said happens often. That other customer was so upset hearing that the policemen would not take a complaint against me since it was your unprofessional employee's fault in addition she did receive her $25.00 that I mistakenly put in my vehicle. As the police and I walked back to our cars, your unprofessional employee called me several names which made the police officer advise me to make a complaint with Thornton.

The bottom line here is that had your unprofessional employee had any kind of customer service skills she would have handled this situation much differently. The way she handled this situation in these times could have led to a much more serious and violent situation.

Thank you

Desired outcome: I would like the unprofessional employee reprimanded for her poor customer service as well as her rude and disrespectful behavior. I would like an apology from employee and company.
