Dont ever consider being a Newspaper Contractor for this company. They have you sign a year long contract, tell you that you will make anywhere between $[protected] dollars a month when the fact of the matter is you will make less than minimum wage. My son delivered for them faithfully for 7 months, he received 3 checks totalling less than $3000 he spent tons of money on supplies plus gas for the route plus the fact that you work 7 days a week (unless you have a reliable back-up) then they sent him a 1099 misc for tax purposes that stated he made $12, 000. You can talk to previous carriers and they will tell you the same thing over and over. The contracts (there are 2) HAS TONS OF HIDDEN FEES and the fact that you have to cut headers and if you go over a certain percentage since thesee are unsold newspapers you are charged. Basically, the Oklahoman use there carriers for there own profit. Slave labor.

During the last 3 consecutive weeks our paper delivery has been sporadic.2 of 4 Sunday papers delivered, several daily papers not delivered. Jerry, the delivery guy should be fired .What is really aggravating is that you cant talk to a real human to discuss the problem. It is apparent that management doesn't want to make it easy to complain. I have lost track of how many issues haven't been delivered but it is certain my bank account will be charged for all of the month's worth of papers. I have had it with the shrinking size and anorexic content of the paper. The Daily shrinking Oklahoman sucks, the delivery service sucks and we will be canceling our subscription.

It's a shame the Oklahoman can't keep carriers. Carriers need to be paid for doing their job. It's definitely not a glamorous job. Hard work at early hours and in bad weather! If they were fair to their employees they would have more customers receiving the paper. I am on a route that has had issues since the first of the year. I cancelled the paper in June after 3 plus months of not receiving the paper. I started the paper again on August 23rd. Received 3 papers and missed one. I called customer service and they considered that progress...they just hired a new distribution center and it takes a month or more to get everyone trained. I feel I will cancel and try again in a month to see if they are trained yet! Sounds as if to me The Oklahoman needs to be aware their carriers play a very important part in their business and they need to be paid accordingly.

I was fired as well after 11 months of pure b.s. from this company 2 dm both useless, want to get paid for doing nothing and want to take money out of yre pocket for bogus complaints when customers call in, 3.00 a call in then 20.00 if reacurring complaint.they rip you off any way possible starting with what they pay you to begin with.dm tried to fire before using the excuse of to many complaints(if someone wants yre route or they want to get rid of you they use the excuse in what you signed -1 complaint per 1.ooo, crooked as they come).anyway, a couple months went by and the two faced chickens that did east side of town wanted to do the whole town and put extra money in there pocket so they sucked up to the dm and started telling lies on me, getting people to call in that they know in town, taking papers off my route then customers call in on me, and all the time they are selling coupons to people and businesses.they get the driver to give them four and five bundles of extra comics every sunday (whats wrong with that picture).and they have the nerve to take food off my table.something needs to be done about these dm and crooked carriers

I worked for the Oklahoman for 2 1/2 years and was fired because I didn't call me DM when he wanted me. I have had three DM in the time I worked for them and they where all use less. They will never call you unless it has something to do with a complaint from a customer who also lies to get credit one their account. I was told I would be adding about 50 papers to my route in the same area I was in and would be paid $300 more for this. I was giving 200 more pays and no where close to what I was told I would be paid. I had to put tires on my car four times because I driving so much and even flipped one of my cars will driving on day. I called my DM and all she said was "well can you call someone to help you finish." If you like being lied to about things and making no money, this is the job for you. Other wise stay away, you'll be better off.

They said they have a shortage of TV WEEKLY TV GUIDES so I can believe that they don't care about anything else because if you pay for something you should get it and if you work and are out expenses for the job, then you should be reimbursed for the money that you had to spend to get the job done. Where is the CEO in a of this? Probably playing golf somewhere and is only concerned about himself!
