This company is a small 'home-town' company who wants to play with the big boys (Orkin, Terminix, etc..). The owner actually was Terminix district manager for years (if that tells you anything). I went to work for them with the promises of 'big pay' and a 'great family atmosphere'. Well, the pay started out well and slowly went down hill the longer I worked there. We were paid on production, as a lot of companies do, and that is such a beautiful way to pay your employees. You can give them a few 'paying' stops and then give them about half a days worth of call-backs (no-pay) and essentially you end up working for free half the time. I would wrap my day up early sometimes and one of the reasons I was fired, was I didn't call into the office and ask for more work. Why would I? I tried that a few times and got nothing but trouble calls. It is like calling back in, just to work for free for a couple more hours...I really asked myself, are they serious? Call in and ask for more 'free' non-paying appointments? I work to make money not because I want to go out and save the world from bugs for free. I could make a whole laundry list, but why? The really fun part, is I had asked for a few days off, I had my wedding coming up. They fired me right before Thanksgiving. Quite convenient, since they did give holiday pay. Thanksgiving, Wedding, Christmas...then they fight me on my unemployment. I don't think that needs much more explaining on what kind of people they are. One last funny (not financially, but...) as I am appealing my unemployment over the phone, my boss becomes a bumbling idiot, after the hearing is over, he wants to really railroad me and is like 'wait there is more'..and the hearing officer basically told him, shut up..the hearing is over, I have all the info I need. Straight up crooks. I might as well have worked at Terminix, because that is the way he ran his company.

Were you aware that 2 small children in West Layton, Ut died due to the negligance of a tech that worked for Bugman pest control? The little girls names were Rachael and Rebecca Toone of West Layton, Ut. I believe that this happened in 2009, or 2010. Try "googling" Rebecca Toone, and you will be able to read all the facts about the case. Apparently the tech used "Fumatoxin" pellets in vole holes less than 3 feet right next to the house. This product emits a poison gas when moisture comes in contact with it. Apparently the poison gas was sucked into the return air vent(s) of this home. Later that night, Rebecca started to have problems breathing, and her mother rushed her to the ER where she later died. Then about 2 days later, Rachael started having the same problems, and died at Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. There was absolutely nothing that the doctors could do to save these 2 beautiful girls from the technicians carelessness. Fortunately the community gathered to show support for the family and the local AFB(Hill) "cleaned" up their yard that had all the poison pellets in it. The tech was NOT supposed to use this product within 3 feet of the house, NOR for voles either, and this product or any poison for that matter should NOT have been used where small children were present. Fumatoxin is designed as a "commercial" product, and for killing gophers and prarie dogs that are out in the middle of nowhere. The tech obviously did not read the label, and now because of him, these girls are gone forever. The family did forgive this man, but if it had been my family member, I don't think I could have. From what the UT Dept of Agriculture found out during their investigation, was that not only was this product mis-applied, it was way overused on this property. The company had to pay thousands in fines, as not only was this product mis-applied, but they also found several discrepancies on other techs paperwork as well. Companies like this give the whole industry a bad name. There are exterminators and reputable companies out there, and most of these people and businesses in pest control really do care about their work, and it is too bad that Bugman isn't one of them. Sometimes cheaper is not better. My deepest sympathies to the Toone family.
