Don't be fooled if you think that you are getting an aggressive attorney in Steve A Silverstein. Be careful what you wish for, even if you have substantial resources to devote to your litigation matter. Is Steve Silverstein aggressive? Well, yes, if taking untenable positions that simply cannot be defended and picking ridiculous discovery fights that cannot be won is considered aggressive. Silverstain is a disturbed man who occassionally scores a high paying client, and gets his name into the local papers. Most of his clients are one timers because he overbills and picks fights that he cannot win. If the opponent gets intimidated early on, which occassionally may happen, you end up with an OK experience. Most of the time lawyers who challenge every position and escalate conflicts for the sake of creating a bigger fight and more expenses for their clients, end up hurting their clients in the long run. This was our experience with Steve Silverstein. He was in one gear, and blew a potential settlement. Then, he got tired, and pawned off our case to some contract lawyer, who was actually a better attorney. I suspect that if Steve Silverstein stayed on his medication and did not get raped and beaten in his childhood (that is the only thing that could explain his mean behavior and miserable demeanor), he would probably be worth the $500 an hour that he claims to bill out from his executive suite in Orange. My advice, is when you hear Steve Silverstein's name, run the other way or just donate $150k to a charity>

Steve Silverstein (Orange CA Silverstein & Huston) overbills and delivers subpar work. I agree with the above post. If you want to pay $10, 000 for some nasty letters in this economy, go right ahead and hire this guy. Not to mention he is messed up in the head... Really sarcastic and angry guy...must have taken it up the ### from his father one too many times. Sad fellow... He actually thinks he is tough... pathetic is a better term.
I've dealt with Steven A Silverstein in the past and have found him to be the lawyer-equivalent of a troll. Rude, unprofessional, and incompetent. This guy could litigate himself out of a wet paper bag. Has no concept of civil procedure or professional decorum. I'm surprised he has not yet been disciplined by the state bar.
Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

I totally agree... Steven Alan Silverstein is a clown.. twisted guy... gets bored with cases and clients if no one backs down after initial threats... he is an ankle biter who bills his clients aggressively... hire some other ###, this one is too pathetic.

I have been represented by Steve Silverstein for over 20 years, , In that period of time, he successfully Litigated three important cases for me.
I have not spoken to Steve or anyone in his Offices in over a year, so if anyone thinks I have been "put-up" to this, you are wrong...
In all three cases, when the time came, Steve always advised me to settle...In one case he repeatedly told me "You will win, but Litigation will be expensive, and the funds may not be there to collect." I chose to go forward, for Justice to be served ... In the end, he negotiated a Settlement that made me very happy, and it included Attorney fees. Steve takes every case personally, He fought for me as if I were his Mother... I felt very safe in his hands in every stressful situation...He is very focused while at Trial, and can be abrasive if the client does not fully cooperate ... He is a no-nonsence Litigator.
Yes, his services are expensive, however, after my most recent case was over, my daughter commented on this by saying "He is expensive, but he is worth every penny."
Catherine D. You are a fake profile. This is a self serving attempt by Silverstein to address the truth that is coming out. Look up his cases. He looses, sues his clients, and has the worst reputation with clients in Orange County. Same goes for lawyers and judges. "Catherine D" is comical and fake. This is pretty good trying to pose as some widow or grandmother who sues people using Silverstein... How about one better... tell us you are a widow and an orphan! This is comedy. I have litigated cases with Silverstein. He is a sociopath. This is all you need to know. I don't even know if he ever had a repeat client. Of course if you want to have someone write a rambling and nasty letter on your behalf, and if you don't mind grammatical errors and paying 1500 for the pleasure, Steven Silverstein is your man. Otherwise, there are many options to interact with people like him if you visit the level 4 yard at Chino prison. He just had slightly better upbringing, but is no different from low life criminals.

Actually, I just found these comments after a quick search because I am considering hiring Mr. Silverstein due to multiple positive references, spanning 30+ years of clients. It sounds like he's had a stellar career for decades in Orange County, and, in that time a few people were left unhappy -- but that's how litigation works. It's nasty, expensive, you can lose and people lie, especially in civil cases where lots of money is concerned. The overwhelming evidence is in favor of Mr. Silverstein and will be retaining him.
