We bought a new couch a few years ago and got the protection plan because we have kids and pets.
I noticed there were some cat scratches on the furniture about a year after we bought it. I put a claim in, parts were ordered evertyhing was good. When the repair man came out I mentioned that our new puppy decided to chew the arm rest of the couch. I asked if that will be covered under the current claim. He said no I would have to put in another one.
So fast forward to putting another claim in, it is denied. When I ask why I was told it was because we had already put in a claim for pet damage and the company only covers one incident. I informed the person on the phone that my terms and conditions did not mention this nor was I told this when I bought the policy. After 45 min of getting nowhere with the customer service person who can only say her hands are tied. I asked to speak to a supervisor. After a half an hour of getting the same song and dance I asked to have the information e mailed to me. I never got the information. I then got an e mail back from square trade, saying to give them a call and see what they can do to help out. I called and the representative said oh my hands are tied. I said then why did you e mail me saying you would see what can be done.
So now I have a holy $1800,00 couch. I also told them I will be seeking legal help to which they had no response.
Save your money if you are thinking of getting a protection plan. Customer service is rude to their customers and are all trained to say the same thing. Their hands are tied.
Claimed loss: I have lost time and patience trying to get this resolved.
Desired outcome: I want my couch repaired.
