My wife and I got scammed by Mr. Ed Mara and his son for over $21, 000. My name is Anthony Ragno. My house is in Sparta NJ. Mr. Mara promised my wife and I the backyard Oasis we always dreamed about. But instead caused us many problems and costed us not only the $47, 000, which was the contracted amount, but also an additional $25, 000 to have it finished by another contractor. After many phone calls and discussions with Mr. Mara telling me he was discussing it over with his lawyer about how much money he was going to give us back he stopped taking our calls and emails. He eventually changed his contact info. We tried to give him an opportunity to give us our hard earned money back but at this point we are going to move forward and file criminal charges with local, state, and federal agencies. We will bring him and his son to justice. We have a signed contract as do most people that this has happened to. We contracted USA POOL DEPOT / Mr. Mara in October 2012. The project was suppose to be completed before the end of 2012. Once Mr Mara got his deposit of $5000.00 he started with the excuses of why he couldn't start the work. Then it was that he needed more money. So, we gave him more money hoping the pool would get done faster. Once he dug the hole for the pool, he set up a date with WATERWORLD POOLS IN HAMMONTON NJ, who to this day still sells him pools even though the owner Don Talman, knows what Mr. Mara's business practices are like. We had contacted Don several times, and although they did come to my house and repair some problems with the pool install, they too promised me they would fulfill the contract that was written up by USA POOL DEPOT, but stopped taking my calls and telling me that they don' t have the money to finish what was needed to be done. So, we basically started back at square one trying to get Mr. Mara to at least send us the equipment that was paid for - Like the fencing, the 2 hayward pool pumps, the hayward sand filter, the hayward 400, 000 BTU's gas heater, the hayward salt generator, the pool cover, and the 1000 sq ft of pavers. Mr. Mara's son played stupid, acting like he had no idea what his father agreed upon. I showed his son the contract and he didn't know one thing that he was suppose to do. The son was the one who piped everything wrong in my backyard and Water World had to come and remove all the pool piping and replace it with the proper sized pipe.He also piped the spa in wrong and that had to be done over as well. Then around August 2013, after we had paid out a total of $47, 000, which was the contracted amount, we realized that we had to get someone else in to finish the contract. This included: a fence around the backyard. The equipment, pumps, salt generator, heater, etc. We hired a contractor to install the 1000 square ft of pavers that was in the contract. The 200 ft of fencing around the backyard. The waterfalls from the spa to the pool. And the dive rock. After paying the new contractor over $25, 000, that we had to borrow no less, the backyard oasis was completed within 3 weeks of the new contractor's start date. Mr. Mara, his son, and Water World Pools are all scammers and we will bring them all to justice! If you want to call me to discuss any of this, that includes Ed Mara, his son, and Don Talman I can be reached @ [protected]@aol.com or call me @ [protected]. Ps - I have many pics of the shoddy work that was done. BEFORE AND AFTERS.

GOOD MORNING HELEN,

We had our fiberglass pool and spa delivered by the manufacturer. They are located in Hammonton, NJ. We had paid them a check directly when the pool was delivered. The name of the manufacturer is Water World Fiberglass Pools. I believe they are closed down or changed their name. If you google the name they still have a website.

I had the same situation. Except this time, they were using aliases Edward Brown Sr and Jr. They robbed me of $30, 000 worth of work and equiptment which they never gave me. I paid them $59, 000 out of the $69, 000 that was the total of the contract. And like your job (and many others, check him out on line) what they did do, was done incorrectly and needed to be redone. I had the same experience with Blue Hawaiin pools, continuing to sell him pools, even though they suspected who he really was! I had a long talk with the CEO of Latham Pools (which owns both BLue Hawaiin and VIking), but never got anything back from them. What company manufactured your pool? Do you have any paperwork from Latham?
