My experience with Safe Harbor/Cabrillo Coastal is in April/May 2023. Here is what I discovered, unfortunately.
The age of your water heater could disqualify you from a binding policy. It won't matter that your water heater is in excellent, fully functional condition, installed in your garage, on a slab below your living area, sitting on a overflow container, with no signs of aging.
Also if your house was built before 2000 and has Polybutylene pipes for plumbing you'll be disqualified.
If your house has PVC pipes for plumbing, beware, because Safe Harbor/Cabrillo Coastal will claim they are Polybutylene and disqualify you.
Because it seems as if they look for reasons to disqualify you, it may behoove you to avoid wasting your time and effort to apply with Safe Harbor/Cabrillo Coastal.
Also, if your insurance agent neglects to determine that your house includes these disqualifying items, fire your insurance agent.
If you do apply and paid the premium by credit card and then are denied coverage, beware that Safe Harbor/Cabrillo Coastal wants to refund only part of your money by pro-rating it and then send a check by snail mail rather than promptly refunding the money to your credit card.
Perhaps you, as a consumer, performing your due diligence, by reading this, and relying on other dependable sources, will be spared a similar experience by Safe Habor/Cabrillo Coastal.
