I filed a GAP Claim with Safe-Guard for my car that was totaled in an accident. I have been notified that my claim was rejected.

I have submitted all required documents but there was some confusion regarding my insurance company Mercury settlement. My insurance company requested a letter of guaranty from my credit union, Travis Credit Union. The letter they sent to Mercury Insurance stated that approx. $10,000 was owed on my car so a payment for that amount was sent to Travis credit union. Because the Mercury settlement was for $14,261 Mercury Ins. sent me a check in the amount of $3,689.85 and told me the loan was paid off.

Travis CREDIT Union has since informed me that the loan was not paid off and that the letter of guaranty had incorrectly stated an owed balance of $10,000. In talking with Safe-guard I was advised that I should send the money that was sent to me by my insurance company to Travis Credit Union to show that the full settlement amount would be shown as going to the Lien holder (Travis Credit Union).

Documentation showing that I did indeed send Travis Credit Union the amount of $3,689.85 was submitted to my Safe-Guard portal account but my claim has been rejected because of the original settlement discrepancy.

Desired outcome: Safe-Guard should pay the balance of the car loan since the entire amount of the insurance settlement was paid to the lien holder Travis Credit Union.
