ARIZONA residents (or anywhere else there is extreme heat) do your research before purchasing a home warranty through HSC if your main goal is to have coverage in case your air-conditioner fails in the brutal summer heat. By sharing my experience, I hope to save at least one person the frustration I've experienced!
It finally happened, my air conditioner stopped working on Sunday, June 27.
I tried to submit a claim online, but apparently the website is under maintenance and existing customers don't have access to submit a claim. So, I called first thing Monday morning (6am MST) and got my claim submitted. Never received any communication back, so followed up Monday afternoon. I was told service was scheduled for Thursday, July 1.
Not really optimal when you have no air conditioning, and it's 110 degrees. They told me to try and call the technician directly and see if he can come earlier. Made a couple calls to the technician, no response. Called HSC asked them a second time for a confirmation of service, which the again reconfirmed.
Thursday came, no call, no show by the technician. Called HSC again to let them know, and they said they would give me a call back, which they haven't. I've had to proactively follow up with them over and over, with no resolution.
Going on 4 days with no air conditioning in AZ, still don't even know what the issue is, since nobody has even made a service call. Cant use my own contractor, or they won't provide the coverage I've paid for 5 years!
Also, check the BBB before purchasing, they have a C rating due to numerous complaints and a pattern of unresolved issues: Pattern of Complaint (this is just one)
Nearly all consumers mentioned the lack of responsiveness and follow through.
