Dr. Andrew Campbell reviews and complaints

Let me start by saying that I have written NUMEROUS reviews on Dr. Campbell, only to find that they were all deleted and replaced with obviously fake reviews from either Dr. Campbell or his staff.

I was impressed with Dr. Campbell's amazing website and impressive office and was sure that I had found the best plastic surgeon to perform my rhinoplasty. As soon as I met Dr. Campbell I thought to myself, wow, what a cocky ###. He was rushing through my consultation, trying to get me to have additional procedures (I was only 22!), and simply didn't seem to understand how to treat me as a concerned patient. This being my first attempt at plastic surgery I thought that his work would outshine his lack of common courtesy (I assumed that rude demeanor must come with the territory). I went ahead and scheduled the surgery.

The day of my surgery I could not have been more excited! I couldn’t even sleep the night before I was so thrilled to finally have the nose of my dreams. Once they had me in my gown and hooked up to IV’s I asked if I was going to see Dr. Campbell before the surgery. The nurse told me that he does not communicate with patients before surgery. This made me nervous…why can’t he pop his head in to see how I am doing? Check if I have any questions? I was blowing over $7, 000 on this surgery and he can’t give a simple “good morning?” Again, I brushed it aside. Another nurse came to get me and I told my mom to say goodbye to my nose forever! The room was relaxing, smelled of lavender, and just seconds after the gas mask was put on me, I was out. I woke up to a blood soaked bandage that was dripping down my chin and all over my clothes that were already put on me. Thanks for keeping on top of my bandages, nurses! My mom was escorted in and immediately asked if my bandage could be changed. The nurse did so without even saying she was sorry that it wasn’t. I asked if I could use the restroom and had to carry the IV rack with me. I immediately took a look at my nose (which was braced) in the mirror and I could already see a difference. The nose I was born with had a prominent hump in the bridge, my tip was rather squared and also tilted downward. I could see that my nose was tilting to the right, significantly. I thought maybe this was just swelling. I could also see that it was tilted upwards…a lot. I felt like I was staring right at my nostrils! Again, I blamed this on swelling and knew that I had to wait months and months for my final results.

Fast forward to a few weeks after my splint came off. My nose was crooked - so much that each ¾ profile was completely different. One side of my bridge was even larger than the other, as he didn’t file it as much as the other. My nose was tipped up like a piglet. I had bizarre lumps throughout the tip and on the sides of my nose. I had a hump at the tip of my nose. There was a large painful bump in one side of my nose and it felt as though something was inside. Also, I couldn’t breathe from one nostril…not at all.

Fast forward to my post op visits. I left crying after each visit to see Dr. Campbell as he started blaming ME for the inconsistencies. How do you blame a patient for rhinoplasty problems?! I didn’t perform my own rhinoplasty! If he wasn’t blaming me he was claiming that he didn’t touch that part of my nose, or he didn’t operate in that area. After a year of excuses and a nose that looked worse as it healed, I gave up on Dr. Campbell. My greatest fear came true – I would need a revision.

I spent another year absolutely depressed (I felt it was absolutely necessary to give my nose at least two years before I had a revision). My nose looked like an absolute wreck. Friends would mistaken the lumps as pimples, I couldn’t stand having my picture taken, and there was still an incredibly painful bump on the side of my nose that stuck out…it literally stuck out so far (and so wide) that the side of my nose almost became flat.

I was thrilled when I found out I would be moving out of state for a job and immediately started looking into plastic surgeons. I found one that specialized in revision rhinoplastys and was named was of the best in the North West. One month after moving I was in his office for a consultation. He could see and feel everything I was concerned about (everything that Dr. Campbell denied seeing) and he said he could help. My new plastic surgeon was so friendly, so helpful, and so compassionate that I broke down crying. He understood just how stressful and depressing a poorly done alteration to the body can be. I was set to have my revision in the next two months.

When I woke up from my surgery my plastic surgeon was in my room within one minute. He reassured me that everything went well. I asked about all of the imperfections and his answer sickened me. Thanks to Dr. Campbell my bridge was unevenly filled, I had lumps of cartilage, some that were built too high and some that had collapsed, there was not enough cartilage in my tip (so he had to take some from my ear to build it back up), my nose/septum had to be realigned, and the painful bump that was in the side of my nose? Yea that was folds upon folds of cartilage. I am one year post op my revision and I FINALLY have the nose I always dreamed of.

Not only is Dr. Campbell an horrible human being that is only after your money, but he clearly has NO idea how to perform a rhinoplasty. Take it from me; do not go to him for plastic surgery. You will regret it.
