Rev is a terrible organization to work for and with. They are dishonest, shady, rude, and make it a frequent habit to not keep their word. Do not work for them as a Freelance Captioner or Transcriptionist. If they haven't done something to you yet that is dishonest, they will sooner or later. -Rev makes false promises. -Rev constantly and consistently lies to its Freelancers. -Rev has extremely unfair and shady Quality Control practices. -Rev has fake reviews on Glassdoor- make sure you click through all of the filters before you make a decision about being involved with them. Their surface page looks great (with its fake reviews), but look further, you'll see the bad ones. -Rev pays extremely low wages for Freelancers, to the point where it is borderline illegal, if not illegal, but protected by good lawyers. -The people at Rev are a bunch of fakes. -If you are a talented Freelancer, don't go near this place. They will use you, cheat you, take advantage of you, lie to you, create some made-up problem and then blame it on you, using it as an excuse to sack you/fire you/let you go, etc. -Their only intent is to take advantage of talented people and make as much money as possible off of them. -The people in charge are psychotic, making huge mistakes and then blaming it on the Freelancers. -Rev has very poor training. You are expected to watch a few videos, read a bunch of written material, and memorize it all perfectly without asking questions. If you don't do that, it's your fault. Your supposed to be flawless for way less than minimum wage. -Rev is a scam. Don't patronize them. Don't work for them. The CEO should be arrested.

I agree with most of everything you wrote. What they are doing might not be illegal, but it most certainly is immoral and unethical. They knowing and deliberately pay their ICs substantially below minimum wage. What they pay is a disgrace. $4 an hour is par for the course there. It is slave wages at best. Congress should be investigating these kinds of pay practices. They expect top-notch work from you, but are only willing to pay bottom dollar for it.

Not only is the pay unreasonably low for what is expected of you, you can have your account terminated without recourse or without warning despite having met or exceeded all their performance metrics. It is grossly unfair. They don't even send out 1099s to their workers who make over $600 a year there. How do they get away with doing THAT?
