Georges was hired to seal coat my driveway last year. The treatment did not last even 7 months before it looked as though nothing was done to my driveway. i called Georges to complain and all he would say is that it was only meant to last 12 months, then 8 months and by the time we ended our conversation he said 6 months! Clearly this is a business not into providing an honest service for the money. I had asked him to be careful of my new vinyl siding and sure enough I had to end up cleaning tar residue from Georges application of the seal coat.

I was referred to R. George Paving via Service Magic. He came to the house once to give us a quote for our driveway. My intention was to fill in some cracks and seal coat the driveway. He gave me a quote of $1, 800 to repave the driveway and said it wasn't worth the money to do any prevention maintenance because it was a waste of money until I was ready to repave. I took note of his information and continued to collect other quotes and opinions. I asked him to also give me a quote for our walkway and stoop (his card shows he does hardscaping too). He said he would come back with his friend that was more experienced with hardscaping. In the end, he said the quote for the walkway would be $6, 000 to $7, 000 and he would give me a deal of $9, 000 for everything. Thanks for rounding up Mr. George. Other people estimated my walkway to be $4, 000 for the same materials and work. When I started to tell him that I wasn't interested in repaving and that I needed to continue getting quotes for the walkway, he hung up on me in mid-sentence. I guess he never wants to do business with me, and the mere experience of interacting with him was negative enough for me to warn people away from him. He's unprofessional and rude.

R Geroges does not deliver and uses deceitful practices both in his paperwork and verbal representations.

R Georges never used a checklist or provided any of the following in sealing our driveway (e.g. see pro driveway sealer checklist):

A driveway checklist sheet provides critical and extensive information to homeowners on how to work with a paving contractor in order to ensure the driveway is paved to the homeowner's complete satisfaction, including cost, budget and schedule. Specific items focused on in the checklist include driveway site preparation, installation of sub-base and base layers, application of asphalt hot mix layers (lifts), and driveway sealing and aggregate compacting.

In addition, the checklist discusses Start and Complete Dates, and discusses other key issues such as workman's compensation, liability insurance coverage, debris disposal, reference checks, and estimated paving costs and payment schedules.

Additionally, make sure the form has the number of warranty years and explains the remedies in plain English. R Georges uses a fill-in the blanks on the warranty period...apparently whatever he feels comfortable with at the moment and sometimes leaves it blank.

Richie Georges is a man of his word and seems to be getting a undeserved bad rap in these reviews.

We hired R Georges Paving to add a couple of parking spots to our driveway and to seal it. He did the work in May 09. We were happy with the price and the work, but over the first month we had a few problems crop up with the new area (car tires left small dents in the paving), plus the sealer didn't look as good as we had hoped. i called Richie and he came back over and agreed that the work needed to be corrected with a top coat of asphalt and new sealer. We agreed to wait until late summer to let the new asphalt set as well as possible. I called him at the end of July to ask about the return work.

Richie just came back today with his crew and re-did the asphalt and sealer. It looks great. He called me many times over the last two weeks or so, keeping me advised as to when he was coming. I didn't demand that he come immediately at all costs like some people might have, I told him it was OK to work it in with his schedule so it doesn't cost him all his profit to do the fix. I am in business myself so I don't think profit is a dirty word.

Anyway, by being patient and reasonable, I got a very good work product from Georges. My neighbor had recommended him to me, and both of us are satisfied and would recommend him to others. He kept his word and did everything he said he was going to do. Paving is notorious for fly by night and dishonest companies but Georges is not one of them in my opinion.
