Purchased a rebuilt Mercruiser 454 Marine engine with a 2 year unlimited hours warranty. The engine failed after 6 hours of use due to salt water intrusion.
I called the owner Stan at Power Source and he transferred me to the supposed warranty department that ended up to be a engine shop in Philadelphia.
The rep from the engine shop advised me to pull the engine and they would set up transportation to get the engine.
The engine was removed 2 weeks later and when I called for a pick up date they were out of buisness.
I immediatley called Stan at Power Source and he advised me that my warranty was with the engine shop that was no longer in buisness and that he would not honor my warranty.
I advised Stan that this option was never discussed at time of purchase as all buisness was conducted over the telephone.
I also advised Stan that the paymant was made to Power Source and not an alternate engine shop.
Stan said he would look into this matter and return my call.
This never happened.
Upon further call he said that he would only refund the profit that he made from the sale of the of three hundred dollars. This never happened.
Further calls were made to Stan at Power Source and he would hang up the phone.
This rebuilt engine cost three thousand dollars and lasted six hours.
I believe that I have been dealt a wrong deal from Power Source and would like to see a refund.
After this incident Power Source updated their website to hide a disclamier on the warranty saying that it is covered by the engine builder.
This was never disclosed to me at time of purchase.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The circumstances of this complaint are wildly misrepresented. Should anyone need an explanation, they are encouraged to contact Powersource engines at [protected]
I have been trying to get my engine replaced and it has been over three month now. All I get is the run around and no returned calls. This is flat out rude and shows lack of customer service and care. I need a refund of my purchase, labor fees, material, and storage fees that has accumulated over this time. I am tired of getting hung up on after I paid thousands of dollars for your product. I drove my truck one mile and it died on me.
The Julian M story is a mystery here. He called and complained about a knocking noise. We started a warranty claim and had the warranty department call his mechanic. The mechanic never answered his phone and his voicemail box was always full. We advised Julian M of this via email and he never contacted us again. We assume it was an installer error that was corrected locally. We have all emails to back up our story.
My Mom bought a car engine from this company that started to leak before reaching 5, 000 mi. Both her and her mechanic have cooperated to the best of their abilities with this PowerSources warranty dept. and are being ignored by them (just like the complaint above describes.) Bottom line, this company DOES NOT honor their warranty and you will have to sue them to obtain the expenses. It is inconvenient and no one should have to go through the trouble, but this is how PowerSource wants to do business. They're hoping that you'll roll over and take it... DON'T! PowerSource tries to scare you away with shady contract language, but most states will not honor shady contract practices, no matter who Powersource tries to pawn responsibility off on. The law is on your side, go get them!
In answer to ...and justice for all, the vehicle owner's shop called to report an oil leak. We had the warranty department contact them to diagnose the location of the leak. Since certain external parts must be installed by the mechanic before the engine is installed, it is imperative to know where the oil is leaking from. The mechanic refuses to allow an inspector to come out and verify the location of the leak to determine if it is a defect from the factory or the fault of the installer. Again, we have all emails and correspondence to back up our side of the story.
I purchased a 5.4 3V engine ($3400.00) for my 2004 F150. The engine was installed on 11/25/2015, by a reputable Auto repair facility, the engine idle nice and quiet for a few minutes, the it began to make a knock sound. I contacted Power Source via telephone (several times) right after (same day) the installer shop informed me. I did not receive a phone call back, I had to call them on 11/30/2015 at approximately at 0805 AM. I was told that Power Source will have a technician call the installer shop to ascertain more info and provide trouble shooting procedures, it's 1300 now, the shop hasn't heard a peep. I pray this is not a deal from HELL. I have read numerous customer complaints about this company, I am hoping they are NOT TRUE. I was trying to throw some business to a company from my home state, I hope I don't get snake bitten.
