I used to love pOpshelf. I really did love the brand when it was launched about three years ago. Then they cut the hours way back and there might be only one or two people working in the store at any given time. All through October 2023, there were so few employees in the store. Items without prices, boxes of freight left stacked on rolling racks, and no one watching the cash register area ready to assist.

What I don't like about pOpshelf is the All-Self Check concept. It's glitchy and paying with cash is really difficult. Customers have to track down a cashier to take their cash. Paying with a card is problematic since it requires the user to hit PAY NOW and then PAY WITH CARD when the next screen pops up. Customers are not used to having to make two selections on a self check machine.

Also, the store is so understaffed, they have mountains of freight to unload. The easiest way to unload freight is to leave the front of the store unattended and focus on freight. The customers coming into the store may not see any employees on the sales floor. No "Welcome to pOpshelf" no "Welcome in!" Nothing. Ignoring the customers is a bad idea. pOpshelf can be successful if they focus on the customer. Focusing on the freight while ignoring the customers will not increase sales. It just makes it seem like pOpshelf doesn't really care if they sell product.

Desired outcome: Hire more employees. give them at least 24 hours a week. Get rid of the all self check concept. Please make at least one of the registers a full-service register with a cashier.
