Hi. I heard about Diamond Place Luxury Apts from a caseworker for my son. She took me to 545 Michigan, in Grand Rapids Michigan where The Office is located. The building was dedicated to various Spectrum help services, however, a handwritten Sign pointed to a suite number for Diamond Place Luxury Apt, This sign was posted next to an elevator, however, three steps to the right of the elevator is where the office was located.

I was greeted by "Amy" . I told her I was interested in completing an application for an apt. It was June 19, 2018. We talked and she explained how the rental process could be completed. I had several proofs with me(i.e Social Security #, State ID#, and proof of income documents). Amy asked how I knew about the Apts. They were still being built!

I told her my son's workers at Thresholds, a service agency of Network 180 had told me about the place. (My son is special Ed, and has developmental problems) I was given an application for residency at Diamond Place Luxury Apts. A month or so later I recieved a phone call from [protected] stating that my application was accepted and they wanted to schedule a "move-in session" where the conditions of my move would be discussed. I received that call on July 27th, 2018. He stated in that call I needed to clear up a balance for Kellogg Cove Apts, where I resided from [protected]. I explained to the caller that I didn't owe a balance and that any charges, they should have been covered by a $550 deposit; they kept the deposit! At any rate, the caller stated I had to clear the balance before I could schedule the"move-in" requirement for Diamond Place.

FIVE days later, I PAID THE MONEY through a collection agency and 7 days later submitted the receipt to them to verify payment. The total costs were $160 to Diamond Place Apts, and the additional $235 to Kellogg Cove Apts.

I had been waiting for a response post submission of the document, thinking they'd call any day to schedule "move-in arrangements? AT any rate, weeks pass into August, and nothing from them! I went by the office several times and each time there was more paperwork to sign and request for repeat documentation. In the initial conversation I was told the apartment would not be ready by September 1. I never viewed the apartment, However as late as August 31st. There was no mention of the amount of money to have on hand when they called. In July, the office manager did tell me and my son we qualified for one of their low income models which were limited stating there would be 13 units available at a much lesser price than normal. He stated that he, was looking at around $490, more or less. I was delighted by this statement and made sure I did exactly as instructed. During the initial application approval, I provided bank account # and routing number information, updated Social Security diability info, and proofs provided from DHS (The department of Human Services). Past and recent landlord history back as far as 1998.

These people took a hundred dollar hold fee, which they are refusing to refund, claiming I can not get the money back after admitting they gave the unit away he promised in July, and insisting I must take a unit costing $800! I either take the apt at that price or lose the $100 hold free. There is no middle ground between $490-$800!

Today, the phone number I've been using, [protected] to contact the office manager sent back a wrong number response via text mesage, also stating they did not know who I am. The name of the Apts is Diamond Place Luxury Apts.
