My name is Kerry Zuest and I want people to know what Monument Security, inc (owned by Scott & Katie McDonald) did to my husband and me. I lived in Sacramento CA for several years and had a very successful business for over 25 years, I made a very good income and was well known and well respected in my industry. My husband was the director of operations and in charge of business developement for Monument Security, inc a company best described as a 'mom and pop' business, suffering from far too much family involvement and a blatant lack for consistent growth due to poor leadership and inexperienced family members employed in key staff positions. However during the 6 years my husband worked for Scott McDonald, he used his experience of over 18 years in the security industry, to grow the company to over double its original worth. In 2009, due to the economic problems in CA it was decided try to expand the company in other states, specifically Texas. It was agreed that my husband was the most qualified person to move to Texas and that if I would agree to retire from my business I would be employed as a part-time administrative assistant to replace my lost income. It was also agreed that Monument security would pay 2/3rds of the cross-country moving expenses and we would pay 1/3rd (we actually ended up paying well over half of the costs involved) We became heavily pressured by Katie McDonald to make the move quickly. But because of the real estate situation we were unable to sell our ranch and so we ended up leasing it out and took an enormous financial loss on the property. We officially arrived in Texas in February of 2010 and began the enormous task of establishing the company. However Scott McDonalds legendary lack of patience and Katies wifely influence in major decisions she had absolutely no experience in began to become apparent within weeks of our arrival. Though we were working from the moment we arrived here, and the logistics of a 'start up' take time, and paperwork has to be processed and licenses obtained, our work load was made even more difficult because the Loss prevention manager back in Sacramento, had been so rude and abrasive to the major client here in Texas that the entire account was compromised. We were informed that she was not welcome, and they would not do business with her. This amounted to my husband also having to do her job, as well as his own, in an area of the business he was unfamiliar with in order to save the account...Which he managed to do, even though it required we take full days driving back and forth to Dallas, over 250 miles one way. We had only been here about 4 months when it became more and more obvious that we were becoming 'expendable', Scott suggested, at katie's prompting, that he wasnt getting his moneys worth out of us, and called one day to tell my husband that he wanted us to repay him the cost of the move! Just before we left Sacramento my husband had sold a major account for Monument Security and it was obvious that that had also become part of Scott McDonalds thinking, because he had done such things before to other former emplyee's... he actually fired one man the day after he was released from the hospital! If he got rid of us, he would save a lot of money on the commission my husband had earned from the sale of the account. And so 6 months after we arrived here in Texas, after selling everything we could, walking away from our home and my business...My husband was 'laid off'. Within a week we had absolutely no income, no home, no vehicle, and even no phone. It devastaed us financially, we sold everything we could to survive, we had always paid our bills and had great credit scores, we had savings and were hoping to buy a house...it all went away, we were unable to pay our bills and have been forced into declaring bankruptcy. It has taken it's toll on me in the form of severe bouts of depression and untold emotional stress. I wanted people to know what happened to us, what these people did to us, and others like us who worked for them in the past (we had been warned not to trust Scott McDonald very early on) so I wote it all out, about what they did and how badly they run their business and sent it to everone I know, as a warning. I spoke the absolute truth about everything! Now they are coming after me- a 50 year old retiree- I am being sued for defamation for $650, 000! Ha! Its astounding and only adds insult to the injuries! Especially as I am completely broke, financially ruined! So there is nothing to get from me...They already took it all.

Thanks very much for your support! The truth needs to be told about this lousy company and these lousy people! I am sorry to hear about how you were treated, but it doesn't surprise me. They have gotten away with this behavior for far too long! And finally the truth is getting out about them, eventually they will bring their own rotten little 'empire' down because of it. Good luck to you, I hope you are working for a much better place now!

Kerry Zuest i feel for you & i believe every word you are saying.Monument Security is a ran down business working with family getting over on most of there good employees giveing family the hrs they wish and also alot of racist supervisors. I worked there in 2010 it was the worst there was no guidance, no proper training they only hired a few blacks so they would not look as if they are a racist company. So much to say about this awful company but i wont waste my time they wasted to much of it.

Oh Honey, I sure am seeking professional help! Not the kind you mean... more of the legal sort!
I see you people in Monument security HR are 'working' hard, as usual (NOT). It's like fishing for slimy 'bottom feeders'! You Kathy R are soooo transparent, you use the same style of poorly written words and love using the word 'rant', fool! You cant help yourself can you?! You are not educated enough, to respond to my statement, because it is all TRUE. All you can do it respond with these stupid (poorly written) lies. And, be careful... you are skirting close to DEFAMATION yet again!...it's getting boring. (but helpful :)
You make yourselves look so stupid and give my complaints even more legitamacy. Negative publicity isnt good for struggling, badly run, companies. If Monument Security, inc was such a great and successful business you people wouldnt have the time or desire to go back and forth with me. This, yet again shows what a piddly little company Monument Security, inc. really is! I have added a picture of your CEO... Get Lost :)

Sounds like a very angry woman. Maybe she should seek professional help. I worked for this company for years. The company is very prosperous and has been growing despite the poor economy. I think any company that can grow when others are failing are be definition well run. It's not surprising when people don't get what they want, they lash out at others. Regretfully those people are the same ones who generally make the same choices over and over and can never figure out why the results are always the same. I can personally say that I have never worked for a company that treats their employees better, so these people must have been pretty bad to have been let go, and I think that's obvious in the above rant. -Jen
