Re: CLAIM AGAINST Modest Moving

My claim is as follows:

1. Our items arrived 26 business days past my first available delivery date (FADD) of 11/19/21. Our pick up was on Tuesday, November 2nd at approximately 1100pm local time. Our delivery took place on Friday, December 24th at approximately 1200pm local time. Per the contract, and based on the terms & conditions provided by Gold Standard Moving, our items should have arrived within 5-14 business days; which is based on the distance from the pick-up location to the delivery location (1,225 miles). Calculating the total of 26 business days minus 14 business days (the longest our items should have taken to arrive) we attained an actual delivery that was 12 days late, of which I am owed a refund for. Referring to the contract that I entered with Modest Moving on 11/2/21, SECTION 7 states (in part) “you are entitled to be compensated at a predetermined amount or a daily rate (per diem of $30.00) regardless of the expense you might have incurred as a result of the movers failure to perform”. The total for this portion of my claim is $360.00 – 12 days multiplied by $30.00 per day.

2. Of the items picked up and delivered, a one-of-a-kind wrought iron table and matching mirror did not arrive. There was also a glass top for the table, which likewise did not arrive. This is a custom set that was made exclusively for us by Dupont Iron Works in Ontario Canada in the Fall of 2000. The price of the set was $1500.00 USD. I am requesting a full refund of the purchase price.

This brings the total of our claim to $1860.00. Please let me know if you require any additional information in order to manage this claim and have Modest Moving process the refund due.

Desired outcome: Refund

Liars and scam artists. They will deliver your things weeks to months late with absolutely no remorse. I wish I never heard of this company. I hate them with a deep and personal burning passion.

I was able to find the personal cell numbers of the business owners; they own multiple moving businesses:

If I could give them less than one I would. This is by far the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They are liars. They quote you rates and time frames that are not even close to correct. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! It may take a month or more to get your stuff and will likely cost double what you were quoted! Take my advice, go elsewhere or do it yourself!

They were super careful, patient, friendly, fast, and way more than we ever expected in a mover. We appreciate how thorough they were wrapping everything. They are the exact kind of people you want to talk to and do business with. Such a huge weight off our shoulders! We would hire them again!

THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM..

I used Gold Standard service who hooked me with Modest Movers. I would give ZERO stars to this mover. I moved in Oct. and they were suppose to deliver in two weeks. They delivered after almost a month and all my furniture was broken and worthless. There was also missing items, like an entire sofa was missing. They said I can file a claim with Anthem Claim Management. I did! but after waiting for longer than 90 days, Anthem Claim Management said these were not our clients. Then when I call the company, I wait for hours with no response. TOTAL SCAM, DO NOT USE FOR YOUR MOVE.

When I called the Gold Standard moving and storage, they said I should call the police and report this mover because it is a crime to damage/lose furniture, and it is a bigger crime to NOT resolve this claim and provide false information.

These people have my moms things. We hired Gold Standard moving and storage who was based in Florida and they sent Modest movers to my moms to pick her things up which they did Nov 1 in NC and was suppose to bring them to Ky a few days later for months we been calling Gold Standard and for months asking where moms stuff is they kept telling us excuses like Covid going on it will get here when it gets here or when drivers get out that way they will deliver her things now Gold Standard is telling us Modest is no longer in business and my moms things are in NJ . We had to call them lots of times before they finally told us this. They have everything my 80 year old mom owns somewhere in a state that is no where close to kentucky yet nobody was going to tell us anything at all for months . We filled out a complaint with the Florida ag yesterday because when we hired gold standard they did not tell us they were sending other company out to move moms things This whole thing been bad from start we did everything they said to do we paid money down online and then got a postal mo to give the driver like they told us to do upon pick up then the driver ask for 474 more cash we gave him that cash also we have v receipts for everything yet they take my moms stuff states away and they dumped it off and had no plans to tell us I read on a fb group that one lady flew there to get her things and only got some of her things I don’t understand what is going on this is bad. My mom wants her things the things she had in that truck was all she had left of her life with my dad she had to downsize to move here in my home for me to be her caretaker. The movers saw she is a 80 year old woman fighting cancer who just lost her husband and they do this to her it’s wrong way wrong and she deserves her things we trusted these people. Can businesses just do this to people and get away with it cause I been reading on internet this Is happening a lot. Is these moving companies scams do they take your things somewhere go through your things take what they want then don’t even care to tell you that you will never see your things again that is what it seems like to me. My mom wants her belongings that’s all the things she kept had meaning to her.
