This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I wired money to their account but never recieved the product.

They only responded to my emails at the very beginning confirming receipt of the money and apologizing for the delay. After a few months they stopped responding completely. The only way I could get a response from them is if I acted like a new customer interested in their product. Once they found out it was me they would once again stop responding. I have emails to back up my complaints. Here it is a more than a year later and still no product refund.

I am in correspondance with Lavabo again only after I asked a friend to contact them about a new purchase and they responded immediately. They are still refusing to refund my deposit. I have emailed BBC Watchdog with the links of various online complaints sites and note many people are in a similar situation - no refund and no goods. Some have tried to take this to trading standards and reported the company to the police but as yet I do not know if anyone has been successful in stopping their fraudulant activities. It is outrageous that we as consumers are not protected by companies like this.

This company is a total FRAUD. See all the posts on [redacted]. com

I'm sorry to hear about all those who have lost money with this company. This company is one big LIE - see my post on [redacted]. com regarding the issues we had with them in 2008. The fact that people are STILL having problems after my complaint in 2008 shows that this company HASN'T stopped its fraudulent practices.

If everyone either gets their money back or their order fulfilled, then why did I NOT get either my money back or my order fulfilled in full ? I'll tell you why - because they have NO INTENTION of giving money back ot fulfilling orders - that's why. They are Liars, Cheats, FRAUDS.

Do NOT buy from lavabo.co.uk or giant.co.uk. Anyone defending this company is clearly an employee or, worse still, an owner. Don't believe ANYTHING they say - unless of course you want to lose your money.

BUYER BEWARE - spread the word so that others don't get ripped off. Let's put this company out of business once and for all.

I have had a similar experience but lucky enough to have money 'bounced' back twice. I ordered two sinks via giant.co.uk - Alfredo Costa.
I paid by credit card in full - this was refunded in full within 24hrs by Google Checkout account.
I was then requested by Alfredo to pay by bankers transfer, 50% to place order and the balance on dispatch of sinks.
I paid 50% as requested but did not recieve confirmation - instead an email stating they could not trace the payment.
This was refunded the following week and Alfredo Costa explained that I had pd sterling into a euro account and would I please re-submit payment to sterling account.
I did not and later recieved and email stating my order had been cancelled.

I would like to know if there is such a company as lavabo and if so are they reliable to trade with - I will certainly be avoiding giant.co.uk and Alfredo Costa and consider myself lucky not to have lost money - but I would like the sinks!

Hi Cindy,

Contact me through this site if you want my email, if you are replying to my earleir post, I will not post it on here as it does not let you. I also dont undertsand that "yeah right" comment? Dont believe me do you?

As far as I am concerned this is over for me as my money is gone. After a long arguement via email with Mr Costa they said that unless I withdrew my statement I would get no refund on what they did not ship to me. I did the last post and I got no money back. We were all foolish to send them money up front, I am just glad I did not get stung for the full amount.

Yeah right, 70 days ago you informed that you have received your goods, and now you received your money back as well?
This story sounds a bit strange to me, until you are willing to inform the complete story? I invite you kindy to send me your email!

Kind regards, Cindy

I am in a similiar situation: I ordered a Vola KV1 kitchen tap, quoted at 437, 40 € including shipping to france, on February the 18th 2009 and paid a 218, 70 € deposit. Having no updates on my order I tried to reach lavabo by phone several times without success. I sent them an email on the 4th of march for which i finally got an answer the 18th of april (more than a month later !). Here is the mail that I received :

Dear M. Portnoi,
Please accept our apologies for the late reply – we encountered a pricing issue with regard to the Vola KV1 kitchen tap you ordered, and have tried to resolve it prior to getting back to you. About 3 weeks into the order, we were advised by our suppliers that all our online Vola prices are out of date. On receiving the current pricing, and contacting other suppliers, the best price for the Vola KV1 is €750.00 including shipping to France. We have tried to find a price compatible to what was quoted to you, but have been unsuccessful. We regret having to send you this information, but would like to assure that this is not an attempt to increase the price by a backhand manner – we feature so many products on many websites, and frequently fall out of sync with prices increase from the respective manufacturers.
If you are not willing to accept the price, we will refund the order deposit payment you made.
Our apologies once again.

I find that increasing the price of an item after the order has been made is completely inacceptable. Further more, the price of the tap has not been changed on the lavabo website, which makes me very skeptical about the honesty of this merchant. Therefore I asked for the refund of my deposit which I have not receive at this date (may the 21th 2009).

I excuse my statements mentioned above. Due delivery problems from the supplier the delivery was delayed. However the items are now arrived to Lavabo, so I'll get them soon. They will be sent by TNT Global Express Couriers (consignment number for the package is GE101944035WW)

Same story here - no delivery and no contact to Lavabo (not responding by phone or by email). However if You contact them from another e-mail account they respond.
I have reported my case to the police for further investigation. I'm planning to tell my story to a TV-consumer program in order to stop this. If You want to participate - please send me a message

I think I am now going through the same with Lavabo. I was even sent pictures on April 9th 2009 and was told they were being shipped to me the next day by express courier. I have still not received the goods and my emails have not been answered but Mr Alfredo Costa has answered other emails about buying enquiries from persons I created to check. So even though the post above said it has been sorted out it certainly does not seem like it and I shall be reporting it to the Trading Standards, Police and also to the European Trading Standrads.

The Lavabo Bathroom Company ran into severe financial difficulties last year, eventually resulting in bankruptcy and an abrupt closedown. These difficulties resulted in problems with fulfilling the orders for many clients, and the seizure of goods by various suppliers. Some of the remaining assets of the company were purchased by a small group of architects in Italy, and we have now re-activated it, with new changes that will make ensure past mistakes do not re-occur. For example, the payment currency has been changed, and a credit card payment option installed in order to protect future clients and their orders. While there still exist many problems from the failed company, we are not in a position to comment directly on this particular complaint, as we cannot trace this client. However, we find this complaint strange as we understand the monies had been refunded at the beginning of this year. It is as shame that this Complaints Board does not take the trouble to verify statements before they are placed online, for the sole purpose of damaging companies.

Hi
I to have had the same experience, have been in touch with the police who say they are known to them... and were interested to hear my story. But the money will be long gone also have filled out a form to yahoo as that is were there server is.
There web site has now gone...but will re appear somewhere else I guess soon.
Did get a mobile for him so please feel free to ring it 39 [protected] after some code search found out that it is an italian mobile from Vodaphone.

My advice is get in touch with your local police who will pass it onto the met as the company's office is or was in Harrow.

Thanks
Ben

I am just in the middle of a similar experience. They've taken my money and have now stopped communicating with me. I will be taking it up with Trading Standards.
