So I use western union often, but after today i will not ever use them again. I sent money to my daughter in law and I sent money to a friend to purchase a horse for my grandson, it was a surprise. I spent 30 minutes talking to the person that gives you your number to take to the counter at rite aid. The amount of the money transfer was 2000 dollars of my hard earned cash PLUS 40 dollars to send it. I was told to call an 877 number of which i had to answer numerous ridiculous questions, however I did without hesitation. I had also paid 1500 dollars for the shipper to pick up the horse for my grandson. The shipper was sitting in the driveway waiting for the payment of 2000 to be recieved by the seller so they could take her to me in California. The seller goes to recieive her money and is told there is nothing there. I then have to call and answer another series of question, put on hold and then told they decided they are not going to pay the person I sent the money to. I could go back to rite aid and get my 2040.00 dollars back. So I drive back to rite aid and guess what, THEY DONT REFUND MONEY OVER 900 DOLLARS! I have to call western union again and they tell me, they are so sorry, I need to drive 30 MINUTES to a little hispanic meat market and they will give me my 2000 dollars back. GUESS WHAT, THE STORE THEY SENT ME TO, DOESNT EVEN HAVE WESTERN UNION. Back on the phone again. They now tell me I have to drive to WATSONVILLE, and the store there is closed for the night and maybe I could get my money back tomorrow. If you are able to take our money, chose at your discretion you dont want to pay the payee, then you damn sure should have a posting where your western union offices are STATING TO THE CONSUMER, MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE IF YOU SEND MORE THAN 900 DOLLARS YOU MIGHT GET DENIED, IF YOU GET DENIED YOU CANNOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK AT THIS STORE! Just as you have the right to deny payment, consumers should be advised of your policies and be able to decide if we want to complete a transaction and possibly be out of our money for days and drive endless miles getting the run around! If any one has defrauded me it has been western union, you fail to disclose your policies and then keep my money. Send me to places that dont even handle western union and have people most likely in INDIA answering your consumer complaints that barely speak english. I am without my money, my grandson has lost a very special gift I purchased for him and to add insult to injury I have to spend my time, gas and energy running around for now two days AND STILL HAVE NOT GOT MY MONEY RETURNED. This is a consumer rip off and they fail to disclose these policies to you but gladly take your money. I am going to do my best to be the mouth piece for everyone I can to prevent more consumers from being defrauded by Western Union. This is just wrong in every way, and you picked the wrong person to take my money.
If this is your policy, give consumers the choice of wanting to deal with this BEFORE you take our money, this is not something you should fail to disclose
