Subject:
Complaint Against iCall International (U.S. Company) for Misleading Hiring Practices and Uncompensated Labor
Description of Incident:
I am a Pakistani citizen who applied for a remote customer service position with a U.S.-based company, iCall International, headquartered at:
7901 4th St N, Suite 11540, St. Petersburg, FL 33702
Phone: (818) 239-4744
Email: info@icallinternational.com
On June 5, 2024, I successfully passed the initial interview. I was then enrolled in a mandatory unpaid training program lasting approximately 80 hours from June 30 to July 12, which included video lectures, live sessions, and a final language assessment.
The training was presented as a guaranteed step toward employment, and I was issued a certification upon completion. However:
Technical Failure Ignored:
During the final language assessment on July 8, a known UI error caused one of my answers to be skipped due to a misclick. I immediately reported this to the assigned trainer (Mr. Christopher Ruiz), who acknowledged the issue but denied any remediation or retest opportunity.
Unfair Treatment & Discrimination:
Another participant who faced a similar issue was granted a retest. I was denied the same courtesy without being provided any written policy or reason. This raises concerns of discriminatory or biased treatment.
Ghosting & Withholding Results:
The company had communicated that results would be shared by July 14, yet no communication was made for three days following the deadline. I was effectively ghosted with no feedback, rejection notice, or assessment report—despite having invested substantial time and labor into the process.
Emotional & Psychological Harm:
This abrupt silence caused severe anxiety, depression, and distress, especially after intense preparation and emotional investment in the opportunity. I believe the company may be exploiting remote job seekers under the guise of hiring, while obtaining free labor and training engagement data.
Summary of Allegations:
Fraudulent or deceptive hiring practices
Failure to compensate or acknowledge labor provided during training
Discriminatory handling of technical issues in assessment
Emotional and psychological harm resulting from ghosting and abrupt disqualification
Potential abuse of personal data provided during the recruitment process
Desired Action:
I request a formal investigation into iCall International’s recruitment methods, especially involving non-U.S. remote workers. If found to be engaging in deceptive hiring or unpaid labor practices, I urge enforcement action and public warning to protect other vulnerable job seekers.
Country of complaint: United States
Claimed loss: job opportunity
Desired outcome: I request a formal investigation into deceptive hiring or unpaid labor practices, I urge enforcement action and public warning to protect other vulnerable job seekers.
