House To Home Builders review: Construction work

We signed a contract in september of 2021 for mr hyatt to tear down 2 addions that were built onto our property without permits and rebuild them to code also to slide 2 carsheds back and connect them to the home.

We gave mr hyatt 8,000.00 deposit soon after the contract was signed and then 20,000.00 to draw off of on 02/18/2022... The contract total was 38,000.00 and the remaining 10,000.00 was to be pain upon completion.

Over the next year mr hyatt (or someone he sent) would come and do a little work here and there... I would check in with mr hyatt to see how the project was coming... But no more than weekly... This seemed to irritate him... But I needed my closet finished...

Mr hyatt had some inspections done... Some that had to be reinspected because they failed...

There were several times that I would ask mr hyatt questions about progress and he would be very aggitated and even lied to me on occosions...

I had a text conversation with mr hyatt on 09/09/2022 where I admitedly was ugly to him... We have been working on a 400sf addition project for a year now... And I was frustrated..

At this point he stated that he was unappreciated and that he didnt know when he would be able to get back over there... That he was done and would be backing out of the contract

we came back down to the property on 09/25/2022... The wiring had been ran and he had put up insilitation... We were thrilled that he had done some work... However,... I looked on the inspection dashboard and he had not put in inspection requests for any of this work... At this point we called for a courtsey inspection...

Mr hyatt was furious that we had called for this inspection (however if we had not) our permit would have gone dead in 4 weeks

on 09/27/2022 mr hyatt told my husband that he had spoken to the inspector.. And at some point came back and took the insulation down and put a crawl space hole in the foundation (that was just left open)* with him not putting a crawl space door in shows that he had no intention of insulating the floor...

We dont live there and have no idea how long the hole was in the crawl space when we saw it on december 05,2022 and we discovered that the roof that he put on was leaking at this point

my husband contacted mr hyatt at that point to see when he would be able to get this room finished up... His responce again at this point was... "he was just so unappreciated that he didnt think he could come back, that he was out of money and that he was backing out of the contract"...

At this point we reached out to the engineer who had drawn up the blueprints and met with her... She made a list of things that mr hyatt had done that was not correct and what we needed to do to bring the room up to code and we then went and got the permit put in our name...

We feel as if mr hyatt did 12,000.00, worth of work (to be fair)... We had to redo some of his work that did not meet code and the front part of the 38,000.00 project is still not completed... (I have text from mr hyatt reading that the front should cost 15,000.00 and the back 20,000.00... The contract was for 38,000.00 total)

we feel like mr hyatt fraugently is keeping our money... Did not do work to meet code... And has not completed his contracted agreement and has no intention of fulfilling his contractural agreement
