This contractor company is beyond unprofessional, unreliable, unresponsive, and incapable. Their billing tactics are shady and are horrible to work with. We hired them for a 3 week kitchen remodel that went to 8 weeks and we finally had to say enough is enough, and pull the plug, opting to finish ourselves. We are being charged or everything they did and did not do. Even items that the forgetful owner did not remove from the contract. We have never felt so taken advantage of abused by any service provider in our lives. Do not hire them! You will be sorry and disappointed.
This contractor company is beyond unprofessional, unreliable, unresponsive, and incapable. Their billing tactics are shady and they are horrible to work with. We hired them for a 3 week kitchen remodel that went to 8 weeks and we finally had to say enough is enough, and pull the plug, opting to finish ourselves. We are being charged for everything they did and did not do, including items that the forgetful owner did not remove from the contract. Every aspect of the job was a flub...from the 3/8 inch bow in the granite counter top, to bubbled kitchen floor that was replaced after attempting to fix twice, to the kitchen faucet being 'stolen', and the under and over ordering of the kitchen tile for the backsplash that lead to a delay in the tile work. They also pulled the old bait and switch on the paint job. They told us they hired a top notch painter that will take the door and drawers of the kitchen cabinets to their controlled environment to prep and paint. The doors and drawers were painted in our kitchen by rookie painters. It looks horrible. The owner finally came to look at the paint work and thought it looked good! The second time he came back with the professional painter and my husband present, he agreed to reprint them... almost a month later! The rookie painter came in twice to try and fix things, but he just made things worse.
The owner, Erle Thompson, is cheap and very combative. In a phone call, he cursed AT us and said that something I said was '###ed'.
We have never felt so taken advantage of and abused by any service provider in our lives. Do not hire them! You will be sorry, disappointed, angry, and frustrated.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Unfortunately, we made the same mistake, hiring them last year for a large project only to have to fire them after their work was so horribly defective that we could no longer allow them to continue. Meanwhile, they had gone significantly over the time and budget projections despite our repeated attempts to stay abreast of costs as we went to avoid this, and Erle repeatedly assuring us we were on track. We asked to look at the receipts for all charges because the actual costs were so far above the estimates. We were told that we would be charged $75/hour with a minimum of 10 hours for them to make copies. I said I would just go to their office and look through the documents myself. Erle wouldn't allow it, saying that they "keep the receipts in files with other people's receipts, so it would be a client privacy issue." I've been told by one of the subcontractors that Erle never paid them for their work on our house. And get this, he's now closed up shop and moved to Minnesota but has opened a business called "Anaogic LLC" in WA to provide business consulting! No response from him to our attorney's attempts to contact him about the warranty he provided in his ridiculous contract (despite the fact that his new business uses the same mailing address as the old ones). I'm thinking there's a Consumer Protection Act issue here. If anyone is willing to communicate about your experiences in more detail, I can be contacted at mamabear7715@yahoo.com. I wish we had seen these reviews before we hired this amateur that calls himself a contractor. Like above stated our project went way over time and budget and we have ended up with a poor remodel. After 5 different job leads had HMMS decided they didn't want to finish the work and to nickel and dime us on hours, supplies and misc expenses they could not explain. Never hire this uneducated company or any of their alias names such as MET Homes, MET Tacoma, or anything that has MET in the name and they are based at a UPS store address of 2722 N Proctor in Tacoma. You'd be better off picking up someone on the side of the highway wanting to work for money and food than HMMS.
Yep. Had the same problem with this company. Poor work, highly questionable billing practices, and downright combatitive attitude when questioned about things. I would NEVER recommend this company doing any work for anyone.
I wish we had looked him up before becoming a sub for him! Shady & unprofessional is CORRECT! Erle Thompson is a BY far the worst contractor we have Ever worked with.. He doesn't pay his subcontractors, Then bills them for "Not completing the job to his expectations." People need to be aware of his fraudulent acts...
