I purchased a Range Rover Velar 2017 from Hippo Motor Group.
I purchased a BMW X6 3 years back from them and the car arrived in good condition.
When I received this Range Rover, the brake calipers on all four sides were rusted, along with some of the nuts and bolts. As I purchased the car online, this issue was not displayed or discussed while purchasing the car.
When you are paying over 40k for a car, you would expect that this will not happen.
I took the car to a body shop and they told me that should never happen to a car 3 years old.
When I complained to Hippo, they told me they will send me £250 to have them painted.
This is ridiculous when purchasing a car at that amount. Can you imagine how they would fix or service the cards before you buy them to hide stuff?
I am now going to purchase the calipers from the dealer and have them fixed at my own cost of £1690. During covid dealing with a company like this is disappointing. You usually only see dodgy car dealers on TV, but this is the first time i have experienced this in real life.
So I am advising people to be extremely careful when purchasing a car from Hippo Motor Group and shop around because once you have bought the car, the after-sales service and responses are terrible. It is so bad i would return this car if I could.
Shame on you!
I will be reporting this company to the Financial Ombudsman, Complaints Board and anywhere i can stop you from doing this to people again during a crisis like covid.
