Hey Carson review: Web development / website fixes 1

Hey Carson is a Shopify Expert you should NOT do business with. Their people are incompetent, cannot make the changes you want, and decide if they can't do it to just end your subscription for tasks. I had a few small tasks for my Shopify story and the Hey Carson people could not do them in not even three rounds. A simple change resulted in errors forming on other parts of my site. They created mistakes in my site that I had to hire someone else to fix. They also suggested optimizing my images and then destroyed the quality of them, then refused to fix them, saying my request was 'outside of the terms of service' though their person suggested it. Jonathan is the owner and a pathetic person who did not take responsibility for his coders' errors and instead said it must have been some other developer, even though I was working with ONLY them.

Bottom line: Hey Carson won't do small tasks as requested to their completion and leaves jobs in the middle if they are too hard, ending your subscription without your say in it. This leaves ecommerce businesses with messed up websites they cannot use and hurts businesses immensely. I got burned and my site was messed up and now I am still trying to fix it. Can't get any sales during this time and NO WAY to sue them or even complain to BBB since they are in QUEBEC, CANADA.

So for web people, BUY LOCAL so you can sue them when they inevitably screw up and mess up your site. THis is the third developer I have been screwed by. They deserve a place in society on par with lawyers in terms of public perception. They are THIEVES, SCOUNDRELS, CHEAT AND INCOMPETENT LIARS WITH ZERO COMMUNICATION SKILLS. I got burned and am warning all other small online businesses. When it comes to Hey Carson and also Task Husky and CB WebExperts -- DO NOT BUY. Beware!

A lot of their developers seem to be overseas and work on your projects at odd hours. This doesn't help when they send you a message at 3am and won't see your reply until the next day because they're asleep. Nevertheless, they absolutely will not perform more than one action on a task in a 24 hour period. A simple task will take at least 2-4 days to complete. Do not hope that you will get more than 6 or 7 small simple tasks completed for your one month subscription of $200, I promise you this is the case. Everytime you reply to a message from a developer nothing will happen for another 20-24 hours (until the next day). Even if you need something expedited and they will tell you they'll look into it but nothing will happen. You absolutely will never see any more activity on it for the rest of the day.

Every action you want to perform needs to be split into a different task. They do not seem to want to spend more than what I estimate to be 15-30 minutes worth of work a day on your task. Therefore, each little thing you want to do is split into a different task that will take an entire day. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that all the tasks I needed to do would have taken less than a day normally, but it took an entire month and a lot of it still wasn't completed all the way.

The developers are just average in their skill levels. Do not expect any work that requires semi-high level programming from them. I don't really blame them for this because you should find out what they can do for you before you sign up. I am a strong believer that you should take personal responsibility to do your due diligence, however, I was also slightly misled on that as well that I will go into details later.

They do seldom make mistakes so having them take 24 hours to reply is huge hassle. One of my tasks took I believe 5 days. It was a simple task but the developer made a few simple cosmetic errors so we had to go back and forth 4 times, thus, four 24-hour periods. During this time, it would have been nice to get him to work on some other simple tasks. But no, only one task at a time. No matter how simple and small it is. This is the way they make maximum profit from you. Before you know it your subscription is up and you have only completely half the things you set out for.

After the initial review I had left, the owner Jonathan contacted me on Facebook to leave a rather scathing message. There, he called me odd and unprofessional and showed his obvious distain for my review. I did not wish to leave a pleasant review because quite frankly, I feel like I was screwed. There was no two ways around it, they screwed me, whether they meant to or not or they were just "following policy" doesn't matter. I got 10% of the work done for my money because of a mistake they had made. That mistake and their non-work was the whole reason I had signed up in the first place. It was THE single most important task that I had needed them to do, even if they had done no other tasks. I tried to explain this to them and to Jonathan but they refused any kind of compromise whatsoever. I simply do not understand how this could be their customer service policy. It is clear as day what had happened and that the mistake was on their part yet they refuse to take any responsibility. Not only that, the owner Jonathan graced me with a few scolding sentences of insults and/or character attacks inside every large paragraph of reply messages he sent during our conversations. Every message I sent to him defending my case was met with a paragraph of why they have their policy, what I had done wrong, and one or two sentences of insults, an attack on my character, and a disdain of my review. I am quite appalled that this is how an owner of such a large business would talk to their customers. It is quite funny actually.

Thus, I was left with no choice but to pay another $75 for this task to be done. Before he knew I had paid the money Jonathan said he would help me and see what he could do (followed by an insult). The next day, he told me that he will not help because it "looks like we’ve done our fair share to get feedback from you on the task." WHAT? What does that even mean exactly? I told them what task was needed to be fixed (after the mistake), they said that they would fix it, and they did not, so I am coming back and asking them to do and see it through! It is as simple as that. It was not a complicated task. Therefore, expect to experience this kind of personal grudge held by Jonathan the owner if you ever leave a bad review. I am going to assume that me paying the money again had swayed him to come to the conclusion that "we’ve done our fair share to get feedback from you on the task" and keep that money instead of doing what's right and giving me a refund on that 2nd payment.

I later got a message from the developer that the task I needed them to do would take some "extra work." Therefore, my second payment of $75 was inadequete which was only limited to one hour of work! Can you believe this!? I told them that they should have done it when I was subscribed to which they did not seem to care again.

Therefore, I do not recommend this company. There are many other developers that have a much better system than their "one 15 minutes worth of work per day" for around the same or cheaper price and probably will treat you reasonably. ONE STAR.

Everything I had said here is 100% true and I have documented evidence of everything.
