For at least 8 years or so, I have been taking my five doggies to Happy Tails Dog Grooming in East Islip N.Y.
My oldest is 14 and a male Schnauzer whom the complain about regularly when I take him. A woman named Deborah seems to be the only one who can groom him and her attitude is extremely foul. I have another Schnauzer(female)who only recently had her grooming nicely done and I was pleased by that by a girl named Amanda. I have three Bichons, who seem to either be cut too short or they have pieces that are left long on their faces and bodies.

I could not believe that while trying to make an appointment today, I was mocked over the phone(the girl who picked up did not put the phone on hold)due to my financial situation and that they had no appointment on a Friday because I will call in at times due to a money issue, but I always make my appointments with them and they groom my babies. I was about to have an appointment on this Friday(July 24th)when Deborah mocked me in the background and refused to take any of the three doggies that I wanted to bring in because she said I would not keep the appointment due to my financial situation. Why would I make the appointment then.

I suggest that if anyone uses this place, you will be mocked if you do not keep your appointment and arrange for another time. With the economy and money issues going on, it disgusts me how cruel their comment was when many people do what they can to keep appointments and when I cannot keep an appointment I call and reschedule and keep that appointment. I still am very upset and disturbed by this.

If you want a caring groomer(especially if you have senior dogs)I HIGHLY suggest you do NOT bring them here. Deborah yells at many of the dogs that bark and is shows her lack of patience with me and I am sure many others who bring their pets there. A true disgrace.

Hi, My name is Kim, Most of you if you were going to Happy Tails 7 yrs ago or better might remember me, ( I had to leave due to having a baby ) I washed and groomed most of the dogs and took appointments. I worked for Debbie for 4 yrs opening and closing and helped run the shop. Please let me explain something to you guys, Being a business owner is very stressful. There are situations where the owners pets are extremely aggressive and very hard to groom. There are set appointments and some owners think that a groomer is a pet sitting service, leaving there dogs there all day. When i was there we did about 25 to 30 dogs in a day with limited space. When a owner does not show up or does not pick up there dog in time it prevents other owners who wish there dogs to be groomed, the hard workers then have to walk there dogs and take care of them as well. Also, lacking the (Pay) the owner has to pay the workers. Being a dog groomer is not all fun and games, there are responsibility's to the dog owners and the workers. Some groomers work on commission only. You don't show up that's a pay that the groomer does not make. I can not excuse or apologize for ill tempers, I wont excuse or apologize for it cause there is no excuse for being Nasty.. I can say that Happy Tails takes on the most stressful job of Barking dogs, aggressive dogs, old dogs that not even a Vets office will do. I can say from my experience not ALL DOG OWNERS ARE NICE! I remember being nice to many Nasty dog owners who didn't even say thank you half the time. They expect perfection on the most difficult dogs and some with there fancy haircuts when they are a terrible matted mess and flea infested. Also, they work with Rescue foundations and grooming there shelter dogs to help them find great homes. There are many dog groomers in Suffolk and if Happy Tails are so horrible, ( i haven't been there in many years ) my suggestion is to find another one if you are unhappy with the service. But, always remember what a dog groomer deals with every day, all day. Thank you, Kim

The owner in a very very nasty woman. She never speaks to you directly. She is a know it all who is under the impression that no one else besides her can do what she does. I agree with being strict with their appointments. They give you want they want and not what is convenient to you. As if they are doing you and favor. But in realty they are providing you with a service that you pay for. The girls that take my dogs in and wash them are very sweet and gentle with them.

it is true that they are very strict with their appointments and they make you feel really bad about missing one or needing to reschedule but I do understand where they are coming from. It took me a really long time to go back after I missed an appointment once because they were very rude but at the end of the day they do a great job and if you are punctual and keep your appointments there are no issues. I always recommend this place to friends and family because they are good at what they do but I make sure they are aware of their strict appointment policy.

I've been taking my dogs there for the past 6 years. I bring the in every four weeks. The girls at the shop are so sweet and gentle with my little ones. Their also fast and reasonably priced. I recommend Happy Tails to all of my friends, family, and co workers.
