I was introduced to Erich Youmans Sales Rep for Gibbs International in May 2013. He proposed a package deal of 3 trucks on an ideal lease program. In the beginning phase of putting the deal together Erich was on top of everything. As we proceeded with negotiations into June, I noticed a lack of effort not retuning calls or emails on a timely manner setting appointments and not following through with his commitments. One of the justifications that was very disturbing to hear Erich express was how much he “disliked working for this company and how he was at his breaking point”. As a consumer this was very discouraging and shocking news to hear from a company representative which questioned the integrity of the deal and my decision on choosing Gibbs International to provide me with a long term full maintenance agreement.
On June 28th we had finally come to an agreement after a painful and slow process. We provided a deposit of $7, 500 for 3 trucks and an additional $2, 500 for the graphics, which was SIGNED BY BOTH PARTIES binding the legal agreement. The trucks were promised to be delivered to our company on July 19th. Approximately 25 days from the time of deposit, due to body work and the graphics on the trucks being completed. It seemed extensive, but I was very understanding to their needs to complete their commitment. A memo was sent out to our management department notifying them of the delivery date. We were all very excited to FINALLY be receiving our trucks!
On the expected date of delivery July 19th our trucks WERE NOT DELIVERED and NO phone call was made to notify us. I immediately left a message at the end of the day for Ed Gibbs Jr General Manager notifying him of the unprofessionalism of his company. I did not even receive a phone call from Erich, Instead I received an email letting me know that our trucks were not going to be ready for another 20 days due to the graphics company not being notified prior to our scheduled delivery date; Erich’s inability to communicate to the proper department kept us from receiving our trucks on the committed date and forced us to rent additional trucks which was very time consuming and unprofitable.
When I finally received a call back 4 days later from their General Manager Ed Gibbs, I was expecting an apologetic response. Instead I received an unprofessional and prideful character. Ed Gibbs spoke in a very condescending way. He is extremely bad-mannered and will not allow you to get your point across and insist in terminating the phone conversation if he is not pleased with what he hears. He ultimately decided to BREACHED HIS CONTRACT without providing a logical reason. I believe Ed Gibbs was offered a better deal! Therefore, he was willing to DISHONOR his CONTRACT.
We have been in business for 30 years and have NEVER come across a company of such poor caliber. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT waste your time with these unprofessional and unethical people that DO NOT HONOR their SIGNED BINDING AGREEMENTS. They will BREACH their CONTRACT if they can resell for a higher margin! This may have been the reason why it took so long to put this deal together.
