My son did a recertification for his SNAP benefits way back on December 13, 2021. Needless to say, he didn't receive any benefits for January because his recertification wasn't processed. After he tried calling the toll free number over 5 times. Staying on hold for over an hour 1 day & finally leaving his name & call back number on another day, he decided to file a complaint on this site. He received a call from a case worker a few days after filing the complaint. So, maybe the complaint is the only reason she called. However, the case worker was VERY uncaring. He wasn't even scheduled for a call; so, it was odd she called.

(I am disabled and on a fixed income. He has some processing issues due to a disability and the job he has is not enough for him to get his own place. Due to that, I allow him to stay with me. Just a little side note.)

When he answered the phone she said she was calling from the Department of Children and Family Services. My son, Brad asked he how she was doing, and her only response was, "I'm busy." She proceeded to ask him some questions, and then told him to send her more information; which, he did. He is a private contractor (delivery driver) for a Chinese restaurant, and incurs expenses for his vehicle. She asked him if he did his income tax return. He told her no because he hadn't yet received the 1099 form. Unfortunately, he still hasn't received it.

He, for the second time uploaded his last 2 pay checks, his gas receipts, car repairs; as well as a short letter to her explaining how his job works. He has been receiving SNAP for over 2 years; so, they should have in his file how it works. Well he receives a notice of action letter stating she couldn't read the forms he uploaded, & she wanted him to send a calendar showing his days worked and all other information. Along with his income tax return. He had already told her in a letter, and on the phone that he hadn't prepared them yet; since he was still waiting on his 1099. He then took a very long time to fill out a calendar for her, along with his new last 2 pay checks, gas receipts for the last month, & a text conversation with the owner of the Chinese restaurant about the 1099. The text showed her the proof of him not yet receiving the 1099. As well as, the car repair invoices, again.

Needless to say, within a few hours, she sent another notice stating he was denied food stamps because he didn't send information needed. That is OBSURD. As I stated, he has been receiving SNAP for a while, and has NEVER been though such demands. He DID send all information she requested, accept for the tax return; which he does not have yet. In addition, he did the calendar she requested, and scanned and uploaded the other items 3 times.

In my humble opinion, the case worker heard that he is white, and immediately made the decision to make things difficult for him. I believe that she shouldn't be working the type of job she has where she has to deal with other people. She seems to be an uncaring, unprofessional, cold-hearted and controlling person. I have read so MANY complaints on here, and on Facebook, along with some other sites about how RUDE and uncaring some of the case workers are. I also read one from someone who use to work at the Florida DCFS who said that a lot of the case workers are immoral and unethical. Wondering if this particular case worker is giving the SNAP to her family, friends, and illegal immigrants. Too many of the Florida residents are going through similar issues and it's disgusting, and saddening.

She should be ashamed of herself for how HORRIBLE she treats others. I'm wondering how many people have ended up homeless because of her. If a person has to choose between eating or paying rent, I'm sure MANY choose the first. Especially if they have children. I have read quite a few from people with children. What goes around comes around, and there may come a day when she needs assistance, and it could just hit home one day. It takes a special person to be able to work with the public. This case worker is definitely not someone who fits in that category. Maybe she should get a job working in a little cubicle on a computer. Just saying. : (My son will always be welcome to stay with me until he can get out on his own. I will NOT let him starve; so, it may be extremely difficult to make ends meet at times, but we will survive. There are days where Brad is at work all night with only 2-3 deliveries and either $10 or no tips. That's a big problem with being a delivery driver at times.

I'm sure that if Governor DeSantis were aware of how TERRIBLE many of the case workers are treating the Florida residents, he wouldn't be to happy. Hopefully, he will soon find out, so there people can be either reprimanded or fired.

Desired outcome: Assign new case worker who's not prejudice or rude & uncaring
