FindTheCompany.com review: Data-miners refusing to delete my personal info from their website 9

I own a personal website, and the website link, as well as my residential street address and cellphone appeared as a company listing on FindTheBest's subsidiary website, FindTheCompany. I immediately started getting text and voicemail spam on my phone, costing me money, even though my number is on the Do-Not-Call list; I fear that the street address associated with the listing is getting paper mail spam as well. I have requested they tell me how they obtained my info so I can stop it at the source; they have so far refused to give it to me, and it is not listed on the webpage. I have requested five - FIVE - times for the page's deletion; I have emailed their "Support Desk" twice, emailed their admin contacts listed on a WhoIs search, tried to phone their Summerland physical location (went straight to voicemail), and so far I have received no assistance at all. If I don't get a response to the request I sent today, I'm complaining to the BBB, the FCC, their domain registrar and host, and I'm considering taking them to Small Claims in Santa Barbara for directly costing me money for all the spam texts and phone calls I've gotten over the last month. Will update you all on what happens.

Follow-up:
FindTheCompany bought Dun & Bradstreet's marketing database, threw it up on their website wholesale, and subsequently a dedicated phone line at D&B has had to be created for complaints like mine.

I found my info on Dun & Bradstreet's site and requested removal; D&B immediately responded and said they would remove and block my info from their database within 6 weeks. It has yet to disappear from that source, so I will have to follow up, but at least their information doesn't show up on page 1 of a Google Search.

At last viewing, nowhere on FTC's site does it say how often they refresh their information from D&B, so someone could have info removed from D&B and yet not see it disappear from FTC for quite some time, if ever.

I filed a complaint with the BBB in Santa Barbara, and only then did FindTheCompany respond and completely delete the page with my information from their website. (Side note: FindTheCompany is not to date BBB-accredited, and as of this writing has a C+ rating.)

It took me over a month to resolve this issue.
By contrast, when I removed personal info from Spokeo, the entire process took 10 minutes.

Funny - D&B confirmed today they removed my information from the D&B database, but part of it is still showing up on DNB.com when I specifically search for it. I have emailed D&B customer service to follow up.

Good for you for going several steps further than I did! So many people are complaining about Findthebest, all it will take is one eager lawyer with time on their hands, and there'll be a class-action suit that shuts the company down. Then all FTB's employees can go back to work for Santa Barbara's Starbucks'.

My husband passed away May 2013 & our Practice was deregistered by ASIC in Australia yet incorrect details still appear under this website which has caused me so much stress as dealing with the loss of my husband is still strong and my family are grieving that this company can use information without permission! D&B in Melbourne were of no use!

Webroot flags the www.findthecompany.com as "moderate risk". My security programs stopped some payloads from downloading. Use this website at your own risk. Have your antivirus/antimalware up to date.

I am listed as the owner of the above entity, including my phone number and residential address. I have tried on several occasions to have this removed by Findthecompany but have had no response.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear that your issue wasn't resolved in a timely manner. Would you be able to send us the URL of the listing you would like to have removed so that we can help solve this matter for you?

The information for the listing originally came from our data provider Dun and Bradstreet (D&B). While the listing has been removed from our website it has not been removed from their database. If you would like to be removed from the Dun and Bradstreet company credit database please call their dedicated third party number at [protected]. Updates and corrections to D&B's information can be submitted online at https://iupdate.dnb.com. We value your opinion and appreciate your thoughts. Let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns and thank you for helping us keep our site running well.

Sincerely,
The Graphiq Team

Scummy make a quick buck company that posts personal information on their website. Says to create an account to correct wrong information. When you try their website says "sorry there was an error, try again later."

I have just found an anonymous review on the " FindTheCompany.com" directors page which has not only defamed my character but is also worthy of a libel action. I have asked for them to remove it as it is untrue and a lie. I am not holding my breathe! It would be nice to have a regulator who would be able to deal with these sites who all too often allow this sort of harm to be done. They use a star system on the review page to rate the director and if I was able to on their own site I would give them a negative value.

They are stalker site which tries to camouflage themselves as linked with D&B, providing a legitimate service to the business community. Best thing to do is create a fake email address and edit the pages as much as you can. I have vandalized most of the pages which posted my friends and families personal information to the point that any of the scam artists this findthecompany.com bozos are associated with will be paying for nothing but useless data.

I'm having a similar situation. I've gone back to "their" source. D&B stated they have taken me out but would have never provided financial information because they don't have it. I don't know how I ever ended up in D&B data base but at least they took me out. Findthecompany.com was quick to give contact information on D&B but will not give it out on their company. I need someone to step in and get my personal informaiton off this non-credible website. I'm a person and have never even owned or opened a business. This makes no sense how I would ever end up on databased like this. I've contaced BBB of Santa Barbara, I've got calls into California secretary of State, California department of corporations, and Oklahoma corporation commission resolve this ASAP. Ridiculous the steps one must go through to keep one's personal information private. Good luck!
